iPhone wifi not working

Ok so as of two days ago, my iphone has had major difficulties finding wifi networks, let alone connecting onto any of them. I live in an apartment complex and normally my iPhone shows a list of around 20 different networks, but now my phone sees none of them. I can even lay my phone on top of my router, and still nothing. Earlier today I passed by an Apple store, and my phone couldn't even pickup the free wifi there. I have already tried resetting my network settings to default on my iPhone, restored my iPhone, and still nothing.

Anybody else having this problem?

I fixed it by taking it to the Apple Store and the Genius hooked it up and gave me a replacement, even though my phone was out of warranty. She was a hottie too 😉

I have an iPhone 3G with OS 3, it stopped detecting the wifi this morning and I tried everything still does not work. I am in Mauritius and don't know if i'll get any warranty or anything. It's a pity. The iPhone seems a lost of money 😟

If resetting networks doesn't help its most likely a hardware fault and you have to send it back for exchange, hopefully you still have warranty.
I'm dealing with iPhones for my company, out of 25, 3 have had the hardware fault. Only the 3G's so far, no issues with the 3Gs's

Very slow services here in Spain through Movistar though.

Before I read this forum I expend a lots of time with a tech trying to make my WIFI work we did everything from reset the iPhone to restore everything and nothing work, they give me an appointment to check and exchange the iPhone, My network can't be found, I just read the trick about the freezer and WORK now the iPhone find the network fast, now I don't know for how long he going to work

freezer trick worked for me to, the problem is that it wears off, after 15-20min the problem is back, i.e not a sustainable solution, unless you want to carry around a freezer....

I wanted to thank you for your solution. It fixed my 3GS WiFi issue.

My 3GS stopped seeing any WiFi network for an unknown reason and I was really frustrated. It is still under warranty but the hassle of getting it replaced was not something I wanted to face. I followed you solution and it started working.

My iPhone does not detect any wifi, but when I put it in the freezer or under the air condition it works smoothly, however after 5 mins when it gets to normal temperature, the wifi stops functioning again!! I am getting tired of this phone!

1. Switch to flight mode
2. Switch on wifi
3. Reboot
4. Connect wifi, wait for the icon to appear
5. Switch off flight mode

That's it.

This worked for me; I've had to do it twice now. I use WiFi a lot on a WPA network.

I have tried all the getto fixes posted here and on the net but still no wifi. I believe it to be a software problem, so I tried one last thing. I purchased an app called Wififofum from the app store and installed it. With that app I can see and connect to any wifi once again.

This was my proof that the issue is the firmware, and not the wifi chip in the phone. By the way, the iphone wifi software started working again after I connected with Wififofum and I have had no problems yet.

It worked for me, mabey it will also work for some of you.

I've tried your advice about the Wififofum app, and it didn't work. 3 $ went to waste, I've had problems with my iphone 3G since 3.1, and nothing got it working so far.

I suspect that some app developers may be trying to take advantage of the lack of Wifi issue and build apps and market them as some ways to fix the whole wifi mass, hope its not the case here.

Freezer trick works... Didn't work the first time I tried it.. So restored phone to unjailbreak and put in the freezer for about 30-40 mins and haven't had the problem again.. It had been 5 days still working!!

for me the command "iwlist" is working but I am not a linux expert, so maybe someone could use it and try to bring up a command for wifi "reset"...

I put the blue tooth toggle off, restarted the Iphone, it worked.
