Windows fails shutdown with iTunes open

When I try to shutdown my computer the shutdown is interrupted by iTunes, and I'm forced to hit shutdown again. Is there any other work around for this than manually shutting down iTunes first?

hi Fabien!

it's still slow to respond to a mouse command. I'd double-click on another song and it takes 5 seconds to react and start playing the new song. Overall, it's not workable this way.

... I'll agree with that ...

hmmmm. what
b wireless
drivers are you using? your symptoms aren't really the same as Buegie's, but his troubleshooting techniques (if you've got the time), might still be relevant. view all to see the sorts of things we were trying to check up on:

i'm watching for other new developments. unfortunately, i'm not getting out of "Installations & Upgrades" currently except to reply to threads i'm already subscribed to ...

Ok, I think I found the root of my problem,
My iTunes/QuickTime no longer needs compatability mode
in Windows XP Home. It is usually working correctly.

I updated my 802.11g Wireless Network Adapter Software through Windows Update.

Also I think it was important that those other choices,
below the compatability item, are not selected.
Before I tried the run in compatability mode, I tried the disable visual Themes checked, but now it is unchecked.

So, to summarize, make sure you have the latest updates for your Wireless network driver.

I got my Wireless Network Driver update from Windows Update. But if you are using a PCMCIA card in your laptop,
you might have to go the the network adapter's manufacturers web site support pages to find and download a newer network driver.

I figure the Apple guys tested it on a variety of platforms,
but they couldn't guess all the goofy, old, outdated drivers and countless random configurations of Windows and Hardware that people use every day.

I still know companies using Windows 95, because it works and they don't want to spend the money, and dot-matrix printers work cheaply, laser printers are expensive, and who needs flat panel displays when 15" CRTs still work fine, etc. etc.

good
b gracious
... wireless card drivers,
b again?

we're still in the early stages (20 October) of troubleshooting the various compatibility-mode hassles. so everything i say in this post if speculation/thinking-out-loud ...

but i wonder if having older drivers on a system is what cause those compatibility boxes to be
b checked
on some systems? i've had reports from people with 5.0.x/6.0 "no sound" problems asking how those boxes got checked in the first place, because they've never touched the blessed things ...
