The sender address was invalid

I got an iPod Touch since September 2007. No problem at all with the email account until the version 2 update software. I receive all my email on it but unable to send email, from gmail account, from my internet service provider email account etc... All email account I cannot send email.

Then I receive my new iPhone today, I was hoping not having the same problem. But I got the same problem, not able to send email. And I got this message: The sender address was invalid.

How can my address email can be invalid when it come from a reply or my address book.

Also the setting was not made by me, because my email account was sync from my powermac G5 and I can send email from my computer.

now I have two mobile device that can't send any email.

Any idea???

I upgrade to 2.0.1 the iPhone and can't send email again

I'm late getting into this thread. Sure wish I'd seen it last week when I almost drop kicked my new iPhone 3G into the next zip code.

Email worked fine for the first 2 weeks I had the phone. I could even email (mms) a photo to another cell phone (Verizon). Then all of a sudden the sender address is invalid message started. After calling Comcast, AT&T, and then Apple, here's what worked for me.

I have 5 email accounts. When I originally added them in setup, each one added a comcast.net to the SMTP server list(the same thing, 5 times). Primary was set to Comcast, and I also had the AT&T server. These were set to ON. The other 4 comcasts were set to OFF. I deleted all the other eamil accounts and left only my primary comcast account. Then I deleted all the extra comcasts in the SMTP list, leaving only the primary and the AT&T server. Everything started to work. So I added my other email accounts back in, and each time another comcast.net got added to the SMTP list. So far everything's been working (about a week now). But if it stops again, I'll just delete the extra comcast.net listings from the SMTP server list again.

Hope this helps someone else before they frisbee their iPhone.
