chmod 740 folders appearing

If anyone can help with this, please do.

We have a user on a G5 tower, 10.4.11, that has chmod 740 folders appearing on his machine.

They seem to correspond with Quark and/or Photoshop files.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

PowerBook G4 1.33 GHz 2 Gb RAM, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Suspect for creating the folders is Quark. Going to reinstall the app and see if that fixes it.
