Hope it fixes the GPS and EMAIL issues. How does one back up?

MBP 2.4 Glossy, 2.4 matte, iPhone 3G (wow, what a device), Mac OS X (10.5.4), 1 BAR on 3G=139K+, 1 bar gets a bad rap!!!

The only way to stop the toggle tool (ie you can toggle between an exact figure and bars) is to do a reset, via Settings, General, Reset and use the first one, Reset ALL.

Going back in to the Test mode and setting it back to bars and exiting, either by single press of home, or held press of home doesn't change things. It does temporarily, but numbers come back following power off.

BTW if you do the above RESET You will have to reorganise your icons/home screen/settings/brightness etc but it stops this.

Doesn't come back after a power off too.

David
ps restore doesn't sort it, nor does moving up to 2.0.2 just above RESET.

Not sure what's happening with your update, but mine went well and the battery life with 3G on seems to be better than before the update. My phone has been mostly in a weak 3G area since the update (down in my basement apartment, showing only one or two bars of 3G and sometimes switching over to Edge) and I've currently have 22 hours and 30 minutes of standby with 2 hours of use. And I would estimate that the battery still shows about 80% full.

updated around 5:18 p.m...maybe there is another update..just a little iphone Humor/NOT
i changed to the metered reading. previously got 1/2 bar in & around my hse. many dropped calls. now have (-)85-(-99 )reading/3 bars when i did have 1/2
notice that contacts the app. moves faster, but the GPS is still searching for my present location..weird..that it always found pretty quickly
haven't made any calls, but i do notice battery is going down FAST, but we always knew that
i have been using without 3G and i think i will go back to edge till Apple can get it really Right!
i am a shareholder so i am hoping for the best and banking on Stevie boy making the iphone spectacular like all his other products!!

Greetings from Melbourne, Australia.

Updated 2.0.2 on both my 8g 3g iphone and it took 54mins to download the firmware. Another 15mins to backup and install.

Didn't make any diferrence at all to the 3g reception nor the phone's functions.
Since day 1, I've only ever got 2 bars for 3g on both phones. Same thing after update. Did a network reset after update and still nothing has changed.
Do we need to do a restore to effect the update on the phone?

Currently at my office, I can't even get 3g reception which I've never experienced before with my old Nokia. No service for a while then drops to GPRS instead of EDGE.

I hope the next update fixes the 3g problem.

Thanks

Ok guys, what is beyond me is how the SAME update on the SAME device can have different results. Isnt this boggling? Some people get better reception, some dont. Somt get worse battery, some dont. Ive always been a PC guy and anytime I have installed the same update on 2 PCs the outcome is always the same! This is apparantly not the case with the iPhone. What is the best way to update these things without restoring? Should WiFi be on? Should 3G be enabled? Any special settings because these updates cant just have totally opposite effects without some sort of different settings beforehand. Makes no sense. Am I wrong?
