Deleting Songs From Smart Playlist?

Hello,

How do I delete a song from my library if I'm listening to a smart playlist? Whenever I run across a song I don't like in my smart playlist, I have to go back to the library to delete the song, which is quite tedious. I think if you press alt-delete in a regular playlist, this works, but not for smart playlists.

Any suggestions?

That's interesting.

On still further investigation it seems that it is not just live updating that matters.

With live updating checked, if the rules of the SPL would be broken by removing a track then delete is prevented.

If you have a rule:
Match genre is jazz
Limit to 20 items selected by random.
Live update on .
Then you can delete, assuming you have more than 20 jazz tracks.
If you match
genre is jazz
limit 20 items selected by most often played.
Live update on.
Then you cannot delete.
It seems that when you select by most often played, the top 20 is the complete set of top 20 so can't delete - otherwise you would have to include a song that was not in the top 20.

If you have match
genre is jazz
limit to unchecked
live update on
Then delete not permitted as you have the complete set of jazz tracks.
If on the other hand, you set a limit to even 1 less than the total number of jazz tracks selected at random you can delete and the deleted track will be replaced with another.

It all seems quite logical. 🙂
