This is a version of Handbrake that enables the "Baseline" profile instead of the "Main" profile. That was the whole problem with the videos not being able to transfer to the iPod when using the H.264 codec. Now, I tried it & it works great!
Kerry - "Was Family Guy on DVD?? Handbrake rips from DVDs/Video_TS files. Not mpegs or anything like that."
I am affraid it was from the FG DVD. I am going to try it again today. I use Videora when I rip AVIs and it works great so no problem there. I am lucky to have both a PC and a MAC.
Also, I ripped another 'movie' and it worked for the ipod... Now back to Family Guy, I'll keep you all posted. Maybe it has to do with the screen size. Im going to make the height 240 and keep the ratio for the width. If it doesn't work, Ill try to make it smaller.
I also just tested the new version. Add me to the list of successful h.264 conversions. Unfortunately, am still having problems seeing all titles on the DVD and so still have to "pre-process" if I want the missing material.
I've ordered my iPod 5G but am being prepared, however some of this news is worrying to me. I've used Handbrake to encode LOADZ of episodes of freinds and cant test them on a 5G iPod till monday (the expected delivery date of mine) can someone tell my whether they think it'l work. The settings I used were:
MPEG-4 Video/AAC Audio
Video Bitrate: 400Kbps
Audio sample rate: 44100
Audio Bitrate: 192Kbps
320 x 240 (auto crop)
Lol, my little iBook does an episode in 30mins @ those settings so i'm grinning!
I'd be interested to hear how long it takes your iMac, post the results on here if u can, on future episodes i will lower the audio bitrate to make room for series 7!
Ok it worked. I guess sometimes the ripping process can eff up ever now and then. So the Family Guy worked with all the proper specs from the HandBrake How To website.
Okay I think I know what happen, I had the average video bit rate over 768, it was set to 1000. I am going to try just a chapter with the lower bit rate to see if it'll work.
It took me 32 minutes to rip a 27minute episode, but i did have many other apps running at the time. Im sure if i had just turned on my computer, and then tried it, it would have been a bit quicker.
