HANDBRAKE H.264 PROBLEM SOLVED!! DOWNLOAD HERE!!!

This is a version of Handbrake that enables the "Baseline" profile instead of the "Main" profile. That was the whole problem with the videos not being able to transfer to the iPod when using the H.264 codec. Now, I tried it & it works great!

Where did you tell handbrake to send the file, because I retyped the destination in spotlight and nothing was found !!

Handbrake said in the left hand bottom corner, "Done" !!

Also what did you put in 'Audio' section under languages????
Because in the 'Handbrake' tutorial it said to choose English (mpeg),
but when I looked there was no such chioice!!!!!!! Uffff!

I always send them to the Desktop. Try a spotlight search of "Movie". Thats the generic name Handbrake gives your encoded videos.

As far as settings, set up everything like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/peestandingup/handbrake2.jpg
And for Picture Settings, use 320 x 240. Thats it.

Just used 600kb and it looks awesome! only thing is that it still would play in the ipod. I think I"m going to give up and go back to mpeg4 for now until I figure out whats up. Trial and error my friends . . . .

uh, encoding in h.264 takes forever compared to mpeg 4... im showing over 4 hours encoding time for the movie "Robots".... i may just use the mpeg 4... is h.264 that much better on this tiny screen???

What do I type in the 'file' section of 'Destination' to save the DVD onto the desktop ???

Brendan, just select the Browse button under Destination, give it a name & tell it where to save from the pull down button. Pretty easy.

I think for 4:3 content ripped at 320:240 I agree. But if you rip it mp4 instead, you can exceed the 320:240 limitation. I'm currently ripping a 704:327 mp4 file to see how it looks on the iPod and on TV. MP4 files are limited by 230400 pixels in any ratio. The 704:327 maintains the same aspect ratio for the movie Batman Begins. Supposely, if you rip it at this resolution, even though the ipod will scale it down to fit it's screen, it will display it at this resolution on the TV (with scaling where appropriate).

Just tried that gave it a name and chose 'desktop' but when I pressed save the codec automatically changes back to 'mpeg4'

First thing to do is open up Handbrake. Then select a DVD/Folder image. Then choose your Destination. After that, do all your settings & hit Rip.

Now, everytime you open Handbrake, it will remember where you wanna save your videos.

Had everything set up. And ready to rip, but when i choose 'desktop' the codec keeps on changing back to mpeg4 from h.264!

Dude, read my post. Choose Desktop FIRST, then do all your settings. sigh

It just finished ripping. Looks great on the iPod and TV. I think I'll be using mp4 rather than h.264 for any wide screen movies (which is just about all I have).
