Unkown Error 13001 occurs when loading iTunes 8

iTunes 8 was working fine for me for a couple days, but now every time it loads up I get the error:

The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13001).

If I temporarily move my iTunes folder than the software will load correctly. Maybe my library got corrupted somehow?

Any ideas on what to do?

What do you mean when you say you move your library?

Just a thought...
If your library databases are on an external drive, have you tried a shift key start?
Hold down the shift key, start iTunes, keep holding the shift key until you are asked to choose a library, navigate to the iTunes folder on the external drive and choose iTunes Library.itl.

I tried all the things you proposed on this page :

- reinstalling iTunes 8.1.1
- deleting plist
- changing security (chmod) on library

I still get the **** message each time a "file" is modified in iTunes (new podcast download, podcast delete, new song import...).

The strange thing is that it do not seam to affect the saves : when I quit and reload the files are still there. But this message is really annoying.

For the moment I just clic on "do not tell me again", but it is only good for one session.

I just wanted to add that this seems to have started when I updated to Mac OS 10.5.7 ! with 10.5.6 everything was ok !!!

Anyway if you have a different suggestion, I am open to it

OK, I fixed it (thanks to Poil66) :

"ok, i fixed this, heres what you do: quit itunes. go into home folder, then library, then preferences, then look for a file called "com.apple.iTunes.plist" (or just search for this file). move that to the trash. go into your itunes folder, delete the itunes library extras.itdb file and the itunes library genius.itdb file. EMPTY TRASH (for some reason this matters). restart itunes, you will have to do some basic preference choosing, but all your ratings, playcounts, playlists, etc should be intact. may take a while to update your library. start up genius, should work. "

This worked for me, even as I *was not using genius*

I have had the same problem - music is on an external HD, Genius refused to work, etc.

Following the advice of others i seemed to get a result last night.
I opened my itunes, exported my library to the External HD music folder (where itunes sees my music files - [H:LACIE > Music]) renaming it to library09.xml

Closed itunes and deleted all inc. previous libraries, genius files & podcasts leaving my mobile applications & games so all that was in my itunes folder was the Mobile applications folder.
Re-opened itunes holding shift and choosing the library09.xml file - this then came back with a message saying it was corrupt but would create a temporary file. It then opened itunes all my playlists where there and it then proceeded to find the album art (as i had deleted that too).
Once that was finished i turned genius on and it worked!!
i think some of this is a bit hit and miss and was taking abit of a risk deleting all reference to my library but if it works then it was obviously worth it. Hope this helps to any who have the same problem.
