iPhone 3G 2.1 says no Sim Card

Out of curiosity: What is the model number on the sim??

Maybe others have the same sim model?

in Cali, now getting "no sim" message.

The version is v3.0

I have try to restore to the old firmware buy I receive this error:

The iPhone "iPHone" could not be restored. An unkown error occurred (1013)

Also after restoring another time the iphone I got this error:

No SIM card instlled

Insert an unlocked and valid SIM to activate iPhone.

I think that I will have to go for another SIM because this one is fried.

Please post Sim Model. Maybe we can track this down...

My SIM card is not working, the new firmware has done something to the SIM card that makes it useless.

Apple please told us why this happens that fries the SIM card and make it useless.

It is not funny to go and wait minutes or hours for a new sim card replacement.

The only way I can activate the iphone is using a sim card from the same company, if not the iphone is locked and useless.

What version is three?

Can you post the model number of your sim? The last 4 digits are all that
really matter, but post it all.
(I'm not talking about the sim number (ICCID) but the model nuumber
of the sim. You have to take it out to see.

I am in Mexico also, iPhone 3G on Telcel´s network. My SIM is no longer recognized after installing 2.1. This totally *****.

It seems that the upgrade "fries" the SIM. I tried this:

1. Inserting my SIM into another iPhone (not "upgraded" yet) - The other iPhone does NOT recognize it either.
2. Inserting my friend's SIM into my iPhone. It works.

I of course tried cleaning my SIM, etc. to no avail. In my opinion, the 2.1 upgrade is destroying certain SIM´s.

Just to clarify: I used official, NOT jailbroken iPhone 3Gs purchased from Telcel. Mine was delivered just a couple of weeks ago.

Fine. So you had it out in your hand. Could you PLEASE post the sim model number so we could see if there is a pattern with certain brands of sim?

Same message for me, Movistar in Colombia. By the way i tried the sim card in my old bb and it appears to be death. It swohs a message that says enter puk code (0 tries left). After the upgrade it never asked for the pin or puk (as always before)

Me pasa lo mismo, al probar el sim en otro telefono aparece tambien el mismo mensaje. Murio el sim

The SIM says:

"telcel V3.0" - lower right corner

"H5" on the upper right corner.
" *** *** *** 6029F" on the left.

The asterisks are of course more numbers but I don't feel comfortable posting the full number here.

Hi. Same problem with movistar Colombia, with other Sim card the Iphone works fine, the solution? go to provider and change the sim...
