Disable coverflow on iPod

It's even more disconcerting when you're playing a podcast and the coverflow kicks in because podcasts don't show up so you'll see something other than what you're listening to!

Absolutely need a way to disable this. Nanos are an active device - I can't even use this to go running with because the movement will cause the coverflow to trigger and not allow me to adjust the volume.

What was Apple thinking?

Currently, there is no way to disable Cover Flow. You might consider leaving feedback with a suggestion to address this in future firmware updates:

You are also entitled to support, so a trip to the store or a call is another way to "offer feedback."

I love the way the new ipod looks, but I absolutely hate coverflow. I enjoy listening in bed an also tend to use it blindly in my pocket, so not being able to adjust the volume is ANNOYING! My next mp3 player will not be an iPod if they don't fix this in their next software update. What were they thinking? You can disable the shuffle feature but not coverflow, which is even more annoying.

Uuuuuugh! Coverflow is driving me crazy with my nano. Love having album art but coverflow kicks is whenever I move my nano. Had it 5 days and I'm about done. Taking it back friday if no patch by then. Apple who really is at the front of design didnt do enough testing on this one I think.

I took mine back and ordered a 3gen from the Apple Store's refurb page. An 8G nano for only $99 and free shipping!

I would like this feature optional as well. I listen to my nano 10-11 hours a day and coverflow drains the battery because I don't and can't put the ipod on "hold" without being a hassle.

By default, iTunes displays album artwork on iPod nano. If the artwork is available, you’ll
see it on iPod nano in Cover Flow, in the album list, and when you play music from the
album.
To set iTunes to display album artwork on iPod nano:
1 Connect iPod nano to your computer.
2 In iTunes, select iPod nano in the source list and click the Music tab.
3 Select “Display album artwork on your iPod.”
To see album artwork on iPod nano:
m Hold iPod nano horizontally to view Cover Flow, or play a song that has album artwork.

Yes, but even Disabling Album Artwork does not prevent Coverflow from appearing when you rotate the nano. I've tried disabling artwork, deleting song album art and even poking around in the ipod settings folder in hopes of there being a setting to turn it off, but nope, there's nothing.

C'mon Apple - not all of your consumers buy your products to flaunt them. Some of us just want to listen to music...

The useability of my new nano has gone down the tube not being able to disable cover flow. Gotta fix this.

I agree. Not being able to disable the tilt coverflow feature has ruined the product for me. It is a hassle having to fiddle around with it to be able to change the volume.
How often do apple do software updates? If it won't be soon I will definitely change to another mp3 player because coverflow is driving me crazy.

This is a major problem, but a guy in another discussion wrote that Apple confirmed to him that an option to disable coverflow will be included in the next update (version "2.0.1"). Who knows if the Apple guy was being honest (?). I was on the verge of returning this thing but I think I'll wait it out for about a month 'til Apple gets this major oversight fixed.
