Disable coverflow on iPod

Is there a way to disable coverflow? I just don't like the iPod changing interfaces on me when its being moved.

MacBook Pro 2.16GHz, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

locking the ipod will also disable coverflow appearing - unlock and click center button instantly brings to currently playing item.

I have also had good results with just disabling the albums menu, with this the covers still appear for a moment if you had the ipod sideways, but clicking the center instantly takes you to the current playing item.

this also allows volume adjustment in pocket; no need to turn upright and wait for coverflow to finally go away.

This does not work on mine. Disabling the Albums makes no difference whatsoever.

Yes, you are one of the only ones. Before, you could just adjust the volume when it was in your pocket without even looking at it. I do not want to stop when I am running just to take out the nano, make sure it is upright, adjust the volume, put it back into my pocket. Also, even if the hold is on, I cannot adjust the volume then. Terrible idea. Terrible.

i have to admit it would be convenient to disable it when i want to.

That's point #1, and you say as much in your own post. The problem with the hold argument you make is that Apple's Nano armband makes the hold button inaccessible. It's covered to protect the Nano from sweat/rain, etc. For a runner to do that, they would have to take the Nano out of the case in the middle of a run. Quite impractical.

A base level of functionality should always be accessible, and coverflow disrupts that. Not a problem when it's not constantly moving like if you were weren't running, but something about the constant movement of holding it in your arm while running throws the accelerometer off, ultimately makes the Nano impossible to use while holding it.
