Poor sound quality when using Plantronics Voyager 815

Hi guys,

I've bought a Plantronics Voyager 815, and after pairing it with my iPhone 3G it became readily apparent that the other party wasn't hearing me correctly.
The people with whom i've tested this report terrible sound quality and call break up, making it impossible to have a conversation. Although i ear them correctly the sound on the phone is better, also the sound of the headset when connected to other phones is a lot better than when paired with the iPhone.
The problem cannot be the headset because i've tested it with 2 different nokia phones and not only everyone heard me crystal clear as i could hear them better also.
Also reception is not the problem as where i live i have full signal bar at all times with 3.5G network support, and also as soon as i disconnect the headset and return the sound to the phone the sound is great and other people can heard me perfectly.

Do i have a defective iPhone? Or perhaps iPhone only works with the apple headset? (which would really stink because i cant use it 'cause it falls out of my ear)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!
Jorge Barquinha

Have a look at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1889287.

I'm encountering the exact same issue, the other parties I call in the US or Europe indicate that they cannot hear me, whatever is the bluetooth headset I use. If however I use the same headsets with a Nokia 6131, they confirmed that the sound is crystal clear and I do not need to speak loud.

This is really a problem for me because I spend a lot of time on the phone for confcalls and the bluetooth stack on the iPhone 3G is so bad that I cannot use my headsets. I'm considering to move to a wire headset which is unfortunately less useful but which has a better audio quality.

I've raised a feedback to Apple right now. Hope that you all do the same.
