Logic 8.02 Mac Pro TDM Digi 96 i/0 OSX 10.5.5 - HEEELP!!!

Anyone running Logic 8.02 in TDM successfully on a Mac Pro?

I've reinstalled and checked everything for months now!

Still no sound from EXS (TDMAux) or any Dtdm / ESB . .. only audio . .

I have been trying to find a solution for this for the longest time. My system was working using DAE/DTDM until a month ago, when I upgraded to Leopard because protools 7.4.2 needed it.

My system is a quad core mac pro, with magma expansion chassis, and pro tools hd3. When I had tiger, the latest version, and pro tools 7.3.9 everything worked.

Now with Leopard, and 7.4.2, whenever I use a DTDM instrument, I get a buildup noise, that resembles the sound of timecode or a sync problem..

I am a long time logic user, and hate having to let it go. The support for ESB is non existent, and like many of you, having pro tools for me is a must. I am waiting to see what they did with the new MIDI implementation in pro tools 8, that from what I saw, the copied the best parts of logic or performer... and if this is it, I will let go of logic. too bad they never helped the people using esb, i would have stayed with logic.

Hi,

I have the following, and IT WORKS FINE :

Mac Pro 2x2.8GHX Quad Core Intel Xeon.
Mac OS 10.5.4
2 GB RAM

ProTools HD2 with software version 7.4.2.cs1

DIgidesign 192 IO

Logic Studio 8.0.2

Waves Studio Classics Collection V6
Waves Native Power Pack V6
Waves JJP Collection V5

Spectrasonics Omnisphere V1.0

Nomad Factory Vintage Bundle V3

This is all working fine over here.

You might try running under OS 10.5.4, since 10.5.5 is NOt officially suppoerted by Digidesign.

I also happen to know 10.5,6 will have a bunch of revisions, so it will probably not support ProTools right away.

There's nothing like running on the "bleeding edge" is there?

Cheers

i have the same problems like kriller, we have discussed this issue again and again. i have also the magma expansion chassis. the problem is NOT 10.5.5 (we had the issues in clean installations of 10.5.1, 10.5.2, 10.5.3 and 10.5.4 with each official supported pro tools software) and only logic and pro tools installed, no other plugins.....)

with my old g5 and 10.4.9 everything worked fine....

Hi,

the issue is the Magma Expansion Chassis. Logic is not compatible with DAE/DTDM and a Magma Expansion Chassis for years now. I had several discussions over the years with Logic developers about this. The TDM manual is only referring to a TDM setup within the computer. It may run fine by only using DAE within Logic Pro.

And to answer the next potential question: The difference between ProTools and Logic Pro: Logic Pro is using two audio engines at a time (DAE/DTDM or DAE/CoreAudio). That puts much more strain to the internal buses (incl. PCI).

Best,
