Using Rosetta Stone online with a Mac

I'm trying to use Rosetta Stone with my mac, but neither safari nor firefox seems to be able to open it. I'm in the Army so I get access to it for free, but have to use it online via shockwave. Whenever I try I get really close to loading the page, then an error comes up saying shockwave failed because it doesn't have an Xtra (FLP Ear), whatever that is. Am I forced to remain monolinguistic?

Zali posted instructions here that were extremely helpful. Thank you! For those of you who may have followed Zali's instructions and remain frustrated, I feel your pain. I spent 2.5 hours trying. Finally, I followed them more closely and noticed a few steps that are not so obvious.

I've tweaked Zali's info. My tweaks are the info that begin with dashes.

Try this:

Finally followed all recommended steps in sequence:
1) downloaded FULL shockwave version 11
- The default installer window offers you the SLIM shockwave version 11
- Click the link that says “Different operating system or browser,” which also is in the window
- The new window has a series of select menus. Choose the following:
- Choose Mac OSX Intel
- Browser (Firefox or SAFARI) – choose Safari because when you go to download Shockwave 10, it only gives an option for a version for Safari, NOT Firefox.
- Language
- Installation type = FULL
- Somehow I ended up with both the slim and full installation disc images on my desktop. Make sure you are using the full installer then…

2) quit safari once shockwave installer was up
3) toggle to the uninstaller shockwave 11 application to uninstall shockwave 11
4) went back to adobe site, downloaded FULL shockwave 10
- I had a bit of difficulty finding the full Shockwave Player 10 – It’s for ppc (for power PC). Yes, use this even though you are on an Intel Mac. (The Rosetta emulation activation in Step 7 takes care of this.)
To find Shockwave Player 10 I went to:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/

5) quit safari once shockwave installer was up
6) installed shockwave 10
7) found safari icon in finder, opened "Info", clicked "Open in Rosetta"
- I navigated to applications; clicked Apple + I (for get info)
- I had to unlock the panel/window by clicking the lock icon at the bottom right
- Then I was able to select Open Using Rosetta
- I clicked the lock again at the bottom right of the panel

When I opened Rosetta again, the system check worked. I had to download some component, and say that I allow permission for movies. But it's working!!

I have a MacBook, OS 10.5.6, running Safari 3.2.1
- I do, too

I found instructions here at Rosetta Stone Support.
http://rosettastone.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/rosettastone.cfg/php/enduser/stdadp.php?p_faqid=336&pcreated=1206737031

I hope all you folks in the military struggling to learn online find satisfaction and success.
