Itunes 8.0 will not burn cd

I have, unfortunately, updated my itunes software to 8.0, the newest version. I have an HP running Vista. I have installed all Windows updates. I have tested my cd drive by burning a cd using Roxio software. But, Itunes will not burn a cd, it states it is burning it, and the cd drive whirs and acts like it is burning, but the disc is blank. I have even pulled it out and burned something on the disc on another computer. So, the disc was good too! Can anyone help me with this issue, or is Apple working on it?

Thanks!

I'm running XP and had the same problem...after I had upgraded to v8 and suddenly 1500 songs had an exclamtion point next to them and iTunes couldn't locate them! So I went back to v7.4.1.2 hoping to resolve that, but no dice. I'm still trying to get all of those songs back! Suddenly the last few weeks half the cd's I try to burn quit before completing with error 4450.
I really thought the person who had disabled CD Text on the burn had something, but after burning 4 discs and throwing away 4 others that is not the solution, at least on my end.
This is ridiculous and has been a major headache now for over a year. I really loved using iTunes and buying music from them but they are forcing me to look elsewhere to spend my money.

This is absolutely maddening! I seem to be having the same issues. The CD drive whirls, stops, whirs, stops, whirs and then finally just seems to quite. I did the diagnostics and it doesn't even recognize that a CD is in the drive. I've done about all of the troubleshooting suggestions but nothing has fixed the issue. I got the following from the diagnostics report:

I have ME and itunes worked fine until I upgraded to 8.0. It is impossible to downgrade now, since apparently some dll file was removed permannently somewhere. I purchased $30 worth of new music and I could just as well have purchased the cd's instead for all the help Apple is giving. I am ready to toss out itunes and move to rhapsody (since I don't have an mp3 player of any kind I should do it before I get stuck with one that will only play music from apple). Either they fix this soon, or I am out of here. This error has been going on now for several months and not a word from Apple. Maybe they don't care!

Well the burning problem is not just with itunes, but posses a problem when one makes there living from burning dvd's for production. This problem has cost me so much money. My problem is that My drive does not recognize any blank disk that I insert after I updated my system, It just spits it back out. It use to work and I did not have problems burning anything prior to the update. I haven't been able to get any answers on this either and I actually know people inside. By not allowing us to burn to disk, this means that the only way we can listen to our music outside our computers is by uploading it to an Ipod or other apple music platform.
Think about it...
Fix this apple!

I'm having similar problem, but I do get an error message. When iTunes starts it tells me "Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing." It tells me to reinstall iTunes, but this does change anything. I found a support topic on apple's site for this, explaining how to delete lower filters and modify upper filters in the registry, but I don't have an upper filter. Anyway, I can't find anymore help on this and I can't burn a CD. I'm running Vista 64. I hope they will work out a patch or something soon.

Isn't it lovely that despite dropping over $1,000 on ipods and downloading songs and movies that I can't get any tech support. Apple is innovative, but their service is crap.

After spending hours on the phone with Apple about this problem and them pretty much denying that there is a problem and that I should reinstall the driver or contact Dell because it's their problem, I have still gotten no where. Seems there are patches that you should install for your driver that supposedly fix these problems, but I couldn't get them to work either. When I burn a CD, it starts with "checking media" and then just stops. I don't even get the option of 'include cd text'... it's not even an option that lights up. I have tried all speeds, 4 different kinds of media discs, modified all settings, etc. I can burn a cd from Roxio, no problem. Of course, you can't burn any of your itunes music... the ones that you downloaded from your own music and itunes made it their own file extensions or the music that I have paid money for in the itunes store. I used to be able to burn a cd but somewhere along the way in one of their updates, something happened. And you can't really even remove it from your system to reinstall or you will lose all that you saved on your computer and your ipod won't allow music transfer back to your computer. I shouldn't have to import all of my cds again. I just stopped out to Best Buy and for them to look at the computer is $69 and to fix it is $199.

i tunes says the registry settings are missing and will not burn a cd, it will however upload cds. i have tried to unistall, reinstall, unistall/reinstall drivers etc. Come on Apple!!! fix the problem. I thought it was my computer, but other programs will burn a cd just fine.

I have had this issue of iTunes 8 not burning CDs/DVDs (no issue with prior versions) - in my case, the CD/DVD would just simply not load at all with no error messages. It would work after rebooting my laptop.

I then tried shutting down iTunes first and loading the CD/DVD first, this worked. Though I do not use iTunes' burning facility, I drag and drop for my burning - so not too sure if this would work for those who do use iTunes burning facility.
