Are they going to make this adapter? I know some TVs coming out do not have VGA or DVI, only HDMI now, so is apple going to make this adapter or will we need to buy the displayport adapter to DVI and then a DVI to HDMI adapter as well?

I guess they will do it. However, the big joke is the fact that they don´t have a mini Display Port to Display Port cable, so standard DP displays cannot be connected to the MBP...
I hope they will provide this as well.
Right now I'll be buying:
1) mini display port -> dvi
2) dvi -> hdmi
The thing is dvi doesn't carry audio signals, so when I'll hook up the new MBP to my Samsung LCD I need to also use an audio cable to my stereo receiver.
It would be nice if there was a cable: mini display port -> hdmi; because then the audio cable would be obsolete as both mini display port and hdmi carry audio and video.
I really wonder why there is no option at the moment to have this cable...

Can any Apple Representative respond if there will be an Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter, and if it will carry both video and audio?
quote..
I've contacted Monoprice.com about this. They said they would talk to their suppliers. Perhaps if everyone hear would also contact Monoprice then they would get a better sense of the potential demand for such an adapter.
The Mini DisplayPort is able to deliver audio to the new 24" cinema monitor, so I think it should be possible to make a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI converter that carries video and audio to an HDTV.
Just a matter of market and demand?

a mini DisplayPort to HDMI would be great, but I'm not sure if the audio is really going to the new displays through the new mini displayport interface. I have a feeling the USB might be taking care of the audio. An apple rep. could definitely correct me here though.
is there a special forum to request these cables from monoprice? some link of some sort? possibly from the website? or did you just call them?
I just contacted them via the website. There is just an online enquiry form -- they are pretty responsive. You could probably call them, too.
Regarding the audio, I would imagine that the Apple mini DisplayPort would have that capability as I see no reason for Apple to remove this since I believe that it is part of the standard DisplayPort specs. Their new monitor, however, may well take its audio via its USB interface.

i would use the
DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and an optical out for the sound which would = to the hdmi just with 2 connections instead of 1

optical out... where?
To quote Appleinsider's very good review of the MacBooks audio and video capabilities: 'The entire new MacBook line retains audio input and output with both regular electrical analog and optical digital (S/PDIF) connections"
oh, so it's a digital signal through a standard 1/8" connector?
I believe so. Again to quote Appleinsider: "....since the MacBook arrived in 2006, most Mac models have sported a line level input that can input 24-bit stereo at a 44.1-192kHz sampling rate and also accommodate an optical digital mini-toslink S/PDIF input at the same audio resolution. With the latest MacBooks, the headphone jack can also now support audio input using a fairly standard four conductor jack."
The question is, do you need the Mini DisplayPort->DVI or the Mini DisplayPort->Dual-Link DVI adapter?
My 28" had HDMI and came with a DVI->HDMI cable that I use. I'm picking up a Macbook Pro this week and don't know which DVI adapter I need.
