New MacBook connected to external VGA display screen flash.

Just got the 2.4Ghz yesterday. For home use I've got it connected to a Samsung SyncMaster 2032NW display via the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. Occasionally the display will go dark for a half-a-second or so and then come back on. It happens randomly, not for hours sometimes and sometimes multiple times over a shorter period of time. There does not seem to be any repeatable action that causes it to happen, it appears to be completely random. This does not happen when I'm using the built-in screen. And I didn't have any problems using the Samsung display with my older MacBook.

Should I take the computer back? Is there something I can do to check the hardware for issues?

Same issue on a Macbook 13" with an external Philips 24" 240BW.

No way of installing Mini DP update, because it can't find my adapter connected to my external screen...

I can't beleave there is no solution to this... Very annoying...

Hi.

This morning I replaced my MiniDP to VGA adapter with a new MiniDP to DVI adapter.

Since then (2 hours and a half), no flash outs on my external screen.

I think the problem is on some adapters. The video card is right.

Well as of today's 10.6.3 update the screen issue many of us had a year ago is now back.

Son of a *****!! I was ready to throw my monitor out because I thought it was crapping out on me... now I learn it's the stupid OS.

Apple would you fix this **** problem already? It's been going on for what, a year now?

I've got a Samsung 225MS that turns on for a split second then turns off. If I unplug the cable and plug it back in about 30-50 times, it will sometimes come back to life and the only way I can keep it working is by not turning it off or letting it go into power saving mode. GREAT!!

MiniDisplayPort -> VGA AND MiniDisplayPort -> DVI both produce the same **** problem.
