iPod not recognized since upgrade to iTun…

iPod not recognized since upgrade to iTunes 4.9

I haven't done any extensive troubleshooting yet, but at a first glance, it appears that since the installation of iTunes 4.9, my iPod is no longer being recognized when it is connected via Firewire.

It does not mount on the desktop, cannot be seen by iTunes, and iPod updater does not see it as being connected.

I've done the usual maintenance, repaired permissions, deleted plists, etc... and nothing seemed to help.

I'll be playing around some more tonight, but I just wanted to see if anyone has experienced anything similar. I read a few posts here that were somewhat related, but most were USB issues, and not Firewire.

A SOLUTION TO THE ABOVE PROBLEM - iPOD NOT MOUNTING!

After many hours of trying almost
every conceivable work around and fix you could think of
I finally solved the problem with the iPOD not mounting on
desktop and speaking to iTUNES.

1 - Even though your iPOD may look like it is fully or patially
charged,charge it up anyway using your firewire /MAINS adapter
NOT using your APPLE /firewire connection.

2 - Revert to the earlier iPOD Software updater - 2005 - 06 26

THAT's IT, and IT WORKS! - YES, Im free to MOVE ON!

Got my ipod back - NO WARNING FOLDER signs or UNHAPPY
iPOD ICONS - NO, having to pay out large sums of money to
fix this little conundrum.
