Cannot Connect to iTunes Store?

As of last night, I cannot connect to the iTunes store. I get a message saying "iTunes cannot connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out". My network and internet are working just fine (all other applications that require internet connect run fine as well). I ran the diagnostic and it says "Secure Link to iTunes Store failed". I have tried everything the help button told me to do and nothing worked. Here's part of the diagnostic report:

Firewall Information

Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is enabled in Windows Firewall.

Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Last successful store access was 2008-11-02 23:08:43.

Do apple monitor these discussion boards? I wonder if they are aware of the issue because no budiness would let this go on for long - they should have a message box on itunes home to let people know when there are problems...

Is there someone we can email to get an idea of resolution time or anything?

They don't monitor the discussion boards, so you better sent an e-mail by clicking 'Support' in iTunes.

As for me: I can successfully login to 2 of my 3 accounts. In Windows it says 'network connection timeout', in Mac it says ' error -4'

So much for 'no cryptic error messages in Mac'.

Nothing changed in networks, firewalls etc.etc.

Me also, I can't make any purchases at all. I have been trying all day today! I always get a pop-up stating, "We could not complete your itunes store request. the network connection timed out. make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.". At least I know I'm not the only one going through this!!!

his is great. After months on using iTunes and the app tore, I go in and try to get updates for my apps, and the store fails to download. I try installing new apps, and get the same timeout the rest of you guys are getting.

This is just great! I'm sooo happy I've decided to give iTunes and the iPhone in my drawer a second chance...
