Cannot Connect to iTunes Store?

As of last night, I cannot connect to the iTunes store. I get a message saying "iTunes cannot connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out". My network and internet are working just fine (all other applications that require internet connect run fine as well). I ran the diagnostic and it says "Secure Link to iTunes Store failed". I have tried everything the help button told me to do and nothing worked. Here's part of the diagnostic report:

Firewall Information

Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is enabled in Windows Firewall.

Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Last successful store access was 2008-11-02 23:08:43.

So right after I send my complaints/issues to support it magically lets me connect. I'm glad it is working for me again, but I do wish they would have some sort of notification- a message letting everyone know that due to abnormally high numbers of people trying to connect to our site we are overloaded, please try and connect in a few hours. Kind of like the automated message you sometimes get when you phone a company, where they let you know you might be on hold for hours due to abnormally high call volumes. Instead of an error message that blames the problem on my connection which was just fine.

Same here and I have another strange thing happening. When I access the app store from my iPhone I can access applications and download them in "featured", "top 25" and "search" and I see software updates and can install them. However, when I click on "categories" the message "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" pops up. Really annoying. I had all these problems start on the 5th of November. I connected the iPhone to the computer but it didn't seem to make a difference.
