Macbook Pro can't see ethernet connection

All of the sudden my Macbook pro stopped seeing my ethernet connection. Network Diagnostic says I am not plugged in. On the router the # port I am plugged into is blinking. I have tried using different cables, switching ports and even surfing on another mac and then quick plugging in it's ethernet connection, but I still can't connect.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a late 2008 2.53 GH MBP that has this exact same problem. One day last week I was connected to my work LAN via Gigabit ethernet and, when I tried to re-connect later that same afternoon, it was as if the ethernet port had "died". No matter what I, or my IT staff, tried, in "System Preferences" it always appeared as if the cable were un-plugged. Extremely frustrating! Took it to the local Genius Bar this morning and it was diagnosed as a bad logic board!

I too just got my MBpro back for the second time. Sudden ethernet port death both times. It was plugged into a normal Linksys 4 port router. First time, Apple replaced the logic board. Can't tell from the paperwork if that was their second solution. Don't waste time calling Applecare. They will only walk you through Network Diagnostics and power cycling the router and computer.
