This is what worked for me finally:

I had originally bought a 2x2GB kit from OCZ that caused video problems with waking from sleep.

If you are having problems with your new RAM test each stick of ram (2GB) by itself in each slot, so you only have 2GB RAM total installed and see if you have problems with a particular slot. I found I only had problems when I had the new RAM, Either stick of 2GB, installed in the lower slot, it worked fine in the upper.

I hope Apple tests this out and releases some sort of patch or firmware update to fix this as there should be no problems with third-party RAM.

I have change the maxmem setting (I will let you all know if something changes).

I have read a lot about this problem, and it seems like when Leopard has great amounts of memory (4 GB or more) sometimes it gets quite unpredictable and unstable. I really believe that this is more a problem of OS X than the brand of RAM you are using.

P.D. I hope everything will be solutionated with Snow Leopard. (Because I don't see Apple getting a new macbook firmware...)

What you're saying makes sense, although it appears that the people who bought Apple RAM do not have this issue... Maybe it's wishful thinking and the issue will come back... That being said, I've got an older (2GHz) iMac which was upgraded to 4GB RAM and OSX is not more unstable than before. Possible, it's the newer RAM speed that is an issue to the OS, but maybe it's just that the 3rd party guys did not receive (or did not adhere to) a comprehensive list of specs. Sun hardware was notorious for not dealing well with non-Sun RAM, maybe it's the same issue here... It sure is a pain though...

I have the crucial 2gb kit bought straight from them. ( http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=2E9B2B4EA5CA7304).

Worked fine for about 4 days and then the computer would just freeze randomly. Finally had to pull ram and put in one of the 1GB sticks that came with it and one of the new 2GB sticks. Hasn't froze yet (knock on wood) with 3GB, but I paid for 4GB and that's what I'd like to use.

BTW...this is my first Mac and I've been recommending Apple to everyone because they "just work," yet I cannot even upgrade my RAM without getting the dreaded freezes that I left windows for.

I sure hope this issue is resolved soon.

I can add my own voice to this long thread. I bought a 13'' unibody MacBook about three weeks ago and decided to upgrade the RAM to 4 gigs. I bought them from Corsair, two chips that specifically said "Designed for Mac" on the label, and I got the repeated glitching that someone posted a photo of early on.

Oddly though (and I didn't see anyone else post this) the glitches ONLY happen in OSX. I dual boot between Vista and OSX and I never had it freeze once in Vista, but it happened repeatedly in OSX.

I explained my problem more on here:
