Can't purchase? There is not enough memory available. There was an error in

I just started getting this error tonight from the itunes store. It works fine until I try to purchase a song and then I get this message:

"Could not purchase "song name". There is not enough memory available.
There was an error in the Itunes store. Please try again later."

I tried restarting computer, etc but that didn't help. I am using an older version of itunes (7.5.0.20?). Could this be the problem?
Does anyone know how to fix this or what is causing it?

Someone here said that Apple admitted they are having a server problem and that it will be fixed soon. So why can they not make some sort of posting on the main page that says that instead of us sitting here trying to download and then waste our time emailing them about a problem they know of. This obviously isn't something happening to only a few people. They posted some crap about Wall-E and a redemption code. Why can't they do the same for this situation so people will stop deleting things on their computers. Simply for the trouble everyone should get some credits on their Apple account. Especially you poor guys that deleted stuff because you thought it was your problem and not Apples. But hey what a money making technique. Let the whole world think their computer is short on memory. Then people will delete things they like only to have to repurchase it later because it was on Apple's end.

Umm, yeaahhh im having the exact same bleeding problem as all of you. I try to purchase a song and it just says "not enough memory, error in itunes store try again later." and it's been doing this since yesterday, and it's now the 22nd, still not fixed. i dont WANT to download the new version of itunes, i like the old one better and my friends all hate the new version, so if this is apple's way of forcing us to download the new one that's really ****** of them. My computer is very new and in good shape (knock on wood) and I JUST defragmented it, so don't tell me there's not enough memory!!!!

As others have said, I'm also incredibly relieved to see that I'm not the only one with this problem. Luckily, I haven't deleted anything. Thought I'd come look at the forums first, and it's a good thing I did!

Let's hope they notice the dent in their profits soon, and we get a fix! An apology would be nice, but that's just wishful thinking. Hehe.

Same error here. The customer support you receive from Apple is the same crappy customer support you receive from all major manufacturers (HP, Dell, etc)...they don't care about the customer. It is next to impossible to find an 800# support line. You have millions of people buying millions of songs and you can't even offer an 800# support line for help that is easy to find? How's that for customer service? I'm reading these post about how people are deleting songs because they believe the problem is they're out of memory. Songs that I'm sure were purchased. Why can't Apple just say they're having some issues and they're working on fixing them. Oh, that's right, they can't admit somethings wrong. The holiday season is fast approaching and it might make people decide not to by their Nano. What a joke.

Want to fix a bad customer support problem? Stop buying their products. Reduction in sales and profits are the only thing they understand. I was going to buy my son an iTouch for Christmas, but not any more.

I upgraded to iTunes 8.0.2 and had some Apple Support 2.1.1 upgrade. After that was installed i was able to download music again. **Thank god! I thought my husband was gonna freak out!** We've been trying to get one song for like 3 days...ridiculous!

Apple: tell us when something is not working [server trouble] or when an upgrade is mandatory! We're paying for this stuff - make it possible for us to use it!

Try the upgrade folks, i had good luck!

Well I called Apple and of course they said I have to emial and wait for a response from Itutes, and when I try to do that, it wont let me choose a category to send the email. Its really frustrating, especially since I went to my brothers computer(a PC) and TRIED PURCHASING A SONG WITH HIS PC AND HAD NO PROBLEM!!!( he just insatlled the new Itunes version last week)!!!! It worked and purchased the song!! I cant download the new version of Itunes cause it requires 10.4.9 or later and I dont have it. Does this mean that I wont be able to purchase music again until I upgrade??? THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

Having same problem and I am glad it's not just me.
Maybe it's not a technical problem.
Maybe Apple just want to keep money we all have in credit.
And I wish they would at least come up with some more decent excuse than that there is not enough memory to purchase the song. That is misleading and confusing for all ordianry users who just want to get their music.
I am very disappointed in Apple!

Am having the same problem, noticed it last nite (Nov 21), same this morning. Can't find a reference to this on any help websites. Stupid question, I know, but I'd pay some reasonable amount to actually talk to a human at Apple about this problem. I'm an XP user, with a fairly new computer. No way is their "not enough memory" at least on my side. Any suggestions?

To those customers freaking on this issue, chill a little. Some of the other customers have already talked to support have confirmed that the older versions of the store has a server problem, and that they are working to get it fixed (if some of you guys would take the time to read the whole thread).

Hey, I want to buy music too right now, but I can't. So, I am just writing down my choices to come back and buy them later when the older store purchase server is fixed again. And to the dude who went out and bought extra backup prematurely and others like him, don't do drastic things like that in the future until you search here in the forum to discern if it's issues with your personal system or not.

iTunes. I understand that sometimes you monitor these threads. If you are reading this, my two cents is that you should fix this issue as soon as possible (duh!). You must be losing millions with this server issue. Out.
