Firmware 2.2 - Apple Lossless Still Skips

Really disappointed after applying firmware 2.2 that the 2G iPod Touch still skips when playing apple lossless while screen is off.

Been meaning to file a bug with Apple over this, but where do i find it exactly?
(have been going round in circles on Apple's site and can only find "contact us" section, but no dedicated bug email address for technical support for ipod)

We should not be having to do this in principal to bump up the priority.
If Apple valued it's customer's they would and should of fixed this problem age's ago if they cared about customer care without us all coming on here to write about it and wait for how ever long a bit of string is!

Make's you wonder as it has taking this long so far to sort out the problem how serious it is and wether it is fixable??

Same problem. Purchased a 2G iPod Touch for my son for Christmas. I use the first generation Touch and have found it excellent. But the new one skips on all music formats.

Initially I thought it was the fault of the unit, brought it back to the store and got a replacement. The new unit was no different.

Having followed this thread I suggested to my son that he should try playing the music without letting the iPod go into resting mode - no skipping! I have sent a 'bug report' to Apple but expect no assistance.

I hope Apple come up with a fix soon or this unit will be returned with the expectation of a full refund!

hi people,

i have an ipod touch 2nd gen 32g, i am all happy about it. but i do have some issues with it. maybe you can help if there are some settings i have to change.

1st my album artworks are loaded random i think, i select 1 song to play and it displays some artwork from other album.

does the album artwork has to be a specific size? can this be causing all this problems with the artwork? :O

2nd issue,
is there a way to make the songs title scroll while playing? cause it is all very annoing not to have the full name of the song displayed.

think they cand change this with some update but i would really like to be one of the many to mail them this complain, so please if these things can not be modified through settings, give me an mail address i so that i mail them.

p.s. some mail address you guys got an response.

I have the same problem too with the apple lossless format on Itouch 2Gen with 2.2 Firmware. I returned it via online service to Apple. They returned it back to me and stated nothing was wrong with it. There are a bunch of my sons friends who got them for Christmas all complaining of the same thing!

I am returning it again. Here is what I wrote. I will copy you all in on how Apple responds.

Ref. Repair Request D ******
My Itouch was returned to me. The problem is NOT corrected. It skips when playing Itunes Apple Lossless songs. This a well know problem among other customers of yours who have purchased the 2nd Gen Itouch.

Please would you correct my Itouch so that it can play Itunes Apple Lossless format music as advertised or return my money.

Thank you.

Has anyone heard anything from Apple? This has gone well past ridiculous into Beckett territory. I can't easily take it back to Costco where I bought it because I've had it for more than three months. I went to the iTunes store where they were useless but at least I filed a bug report.

I have a large library of lossless files that I use both on my stereo at home (a high-end DAC feeding studio monitors) and my ipod. Maintaining lossless and non-lossless libraries is not a practical option. I can also easily tell the difference between lossless and lossy files both on my home stereo and on my ipod with good headphones.

If its not fixed by the end of the month its going back to Apple and I'm getting all my money back no matter how loud I have to scream.

I'm not following your logic, Andrew. You already returned it once because of skipping, got it back in the same state, yet you sent it back again? Apple is NOT going to fix it for you. There has been issues with lossless with this model and no one has solved the problem to date. If you want to spend some time with your pricey little Touch, my suggestion is to keep it and listen to 320kbps files. They play just fine. Sending it back accomplishes nothing useful.

from my experience it seems to skip on pretty much all formats.
it seems to have skipped on mp3 files at 320 kbps, Mp3 files at 256kbps, mp3s at 128kbps, also on some songs form the store and various aac files, i have tried going back in the song and the "skip" is no longer there.
i sent my ipod(32GB 2nd Gen) off to apple 2 days ago and i have just been sent an email telling me that the engineers could not fid the fault described in the phone call.
To be honest i dont believe that the person i was talking to on the phone actually acknowledged what i was saying about the ipod skipping when on screen lock, so i will now promptly have my non working ipod returned to me, i am currently using my old 5th gen classic as i use my ipod in the car alot and the choice of having an offputting bright light(no screen lock) or having my music skipping horrendously every few seconds has put me in a bad position.

i really hope they get this sorted, this is the first problem i have had with an apple product and it is really ******* me off....
