Gmail Widget in Dashboard

Hello Everyone,
I hope that I have this question posted in the correct forum...I have been using the Gmail Inbox Counter Widget in Dashboard for about 8 months now with no problems whatsoever. As of yesterday, it no longer works at all. I have tried deleting it and reinstalling with no success.
Anyone else use this widget? and if so are you having the same difficulty?
Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks for reading my post.

Me too, it doesn't function anymore since yesterday 13th Dec.
Moreover, both Gmail Inbox and Google Gmail (official widget from Google) widgets are concerned by this problem, so it seems to come from Gmail itself.
When trying to log in, it effectively logs in, so it doesn't seem to be a connection problem: if you type a wrong password, it says that password and login don't match.

Meanwhile, I'm using Google Gmail Notifier: http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_mac.html

Hopefully will this problem be solved quickly...

Me too. Both the official Google Gmail widget and the 3rd party Gmail checker. Still no go. The Gmail webmail integration in Flock 2 still works perfect. I don't know if it uses a different feed then the widgets. I know they had a similar outage a few years ago and it was on Google's end and it was related to the Atom feed the widget uses. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

I am having the same problem. I have tried to different GMail widgets nigher can access my GMail accounts any more. I have noticed my Firefox GMail manager plug-in still works though. So it appears to be something with either Google, or Dashboard. Of those two it is more likely that Google has made some change with the GMail login service.

There are people that are reporting that the Gmail widgets are working for them so it is not an across the board problem.

Of the people experiencing this do any of you NOT have the SSL only connection option selected in Gmail?

Hi everybody,
same problem here 😟.
And I noticed one more thing about this issue: till some days ago, clicking on Gmail button, located on my Safari's bookmarks bar, I was able to automatically login into my Gmail account (no form filling needed, Safari remembers my account).
But now, everytime I use that button, Safari ask me to fill the login form. I suppose Gmail has some problems...
Sorry for my english. I'm waiting for a solution (like you! :D).

regards

Hey all...
Thanks to everyone who has responded to my original post on this topic. All of you have been very helpful in your efforts to isolate this problem.
Today I once again went to the Widget link on the Apple homepage to try and reinstall the Gmail inbox counter widget into dashboard...But now the Widget is no longer even available there. It is gone from the Widget list. One can only wonder why it has been removed. Presumably because it no longer functions correctly?? or perhaps, as crepuscule has recommended...we must rely on the Google notifier.
Any input on the notifier might shed some light on this alternative.
Thanks everybody!!!

K9Lover, you can still download it from Google at http://www.google.com/macwidgets/

There is a link to provide feedback on this page. I have reported this issue and included a link to this thread. It might help if others report this issue too.

I have grudgingly switched to the Notifier for now, but I miss the compose feature and searching that the widget provided. I know that the notifier has a compose option, but I want mailto links to still go through Mail.app since I like to keep my Gmail separate.

Anyway, if it's of any help, I am running 10.4.11 and am experiencing these same issues.
