BUG: Renaming a file causes Finder to restart - after Update 2008-008

BUG: Renaming a file causes Finder to restart. This started occurring after installation of the Security Update 2008-008. I can't rename files or folders.
Is there a solution? A workaround? A software update? I repaired permissions but that didn't help.

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

We had 2 users here report this problem, and we do use Stuffit. So glad it was a simple fix.

However, even if I disable Stuffit AVR in System Preferences, and checked that it's not listed in Accounts/Login Items, it gets re-enabled when the user restarts the computer. Is there a way to remove this component completely, but keep Stuffit Expander? Thanks.

THANK YOU so very much for this. After running every utility under the sun, I had no idea what was going on.

Some people may need to run the Stuffit Uninstaller. I had never even installed the AVR portion, there was nothing in my prefs for it. I did a find & trash on AVR, but that didn't work. So, I ran the uninstaller & got rid of everything Stuffit 8, restarted & like magic, back in business!!!

What a frustration! Stuffit can Shoveit!

Hey guys, there is definitely something you guys should be aware as far as StuffIt is concerned (especially since this issue arises from version 8.0 on a 10.4.11 machine). I happen to know a guy who works for the company that created StuffIt, Smith Micro. When I had this problem on my 10.4.11 machine running version 8, he informed me that I shouldn't have even had version 8 on my computer. He then detailed the following StuffIt version/OS version info:

StuffIt Verision.....OSX Version
13.0.................10.3.9/10.4.x/10.5.x
12.0.................10.4.x/10.5.x
11.0.................10.4.x (only)
10.0.................10.3.x (only)
09.0.................10.2.x/10.3.x

Being that version nine was designed to work on 10.2 and 10.3, you can see why version 8 would bugg out on a 10.4.11 system, they're just not compatable, or at least not designed for that operating system.
