Year-at-a-glance View in iCal

Once again, I am filling out next year's year-at-a-glance wall calendar and wish I had this view in iCal. With today's screens, a year-at-a-glance view shouldn't be difficult to implement and would be very useful. My favorite layout has 12 rows (one for each month, January at the top) and blocks for each day running from left to right with weekends shaded. When is Apple going to improve iCal? or at least enable others to make such improvements?

It would be great if you could program something. My preferred year view is very simple, like this:

Year-at-a-glance, and the ability to highlight or focus in on any portion thereof, would be extremely useful. Why can't Apple do this? We've been asking for it for years. Very, very strange.

I just noticed in one of the videos detailing Lion on AppleInsider that the new version of iCal appears to have a Year View - Time will tell!
