iTouch 2.2 software update problem

I just got an iTouch and it is running version 1.1.5 software. When I hook it up to my iTunes the program wants to update to 2.2, but when I try to do it the message says "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "XXX". You do not have permission to access the requested resource." What do I do? Please help!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Ok so here's the major question, if there are no refunds on purchases are we being charged over and over for this faulty software? In addition, I know that people are saying this is because of christmas that the server is so busy and we cant download the software, but Ive downloaded LOTS of songs with no problems. And not to mention I went to YA*OO Answers forum and there are several people with the same problem and they are OLD posts!! Ive been begging for this Ipod touch and bought a refurb thinking I was so smart and thrifty!! Im broken hearted! Where you at apple!?!?

Same here...
My kidz are pestering me to update from V2.to V2.2
I have been chasing my tail big time. Now that I found I'm not alone my "B.S." meter is no longer redlining.
I least I didn't "Brick" the kidz 'pods yet.
I'll leave the stress to to masses and just patiently wait for now while this sorts out.
Good luck all.
Get "crackin" Apple...the natives are getting restless!

I have the same problem! I went to an apple store and this friggin idiot takes my itouch comes back 30mins later and tells me I'm all set. I play with it and I ask if the new version is there she tells me I have to buy it. I said I did and that's why I'm here and the idiot tells me I have to call it in to get it fixed! I just checked my purchase history I was charged 3 times for it!

Ugh! I can;t believe this. I just got an iTouch for Christmas this year, and I'm having the SAME problem! What's up with that? I mean, Apple used to be the best, from the Apple II to the MacBook Air. What's happened? And I paid $10 for it! It had better be worth the 10 bucks along with the 8 hours I've spent on the Computer looking for a solution, and the money I spent on the case of Red Bull! And the tech support told me to wait 'til tomorrow? At ten bucks a download, and if most of you paid $10 for this, Apple almost has enough to just BUY a new server. (Just Kidding. My job is to work with computers, so I know how expensive they are.)

Well, time to open Red Bull number 4...
