I just got an iTouch and it is running version 1.1.5 software. When I hook it up to my iTunes the program wants to update to 2.2, but when I try to do it the message says "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "XXX". You do not have permission to access the requested resource." What do I do? Please help!
Yes, I also am having the same problem. I want to add another warning - my account is setup to use PayPal and when I checked email this morning I found out that iTunes had charged my PayPal account 6 times for the software update. This wasn't at all obvious during my failed attempts yesterday to download the software. Sometimes I got the screen saying "you already purchased this software, do you want to download it again for free?" and sometimes I just got nothing. Obviously I didn't try to buy the same thing multiple times and I never was able to download it. So... check your purchase history and see if this happened to you.
It's a real bummer not to get to play with my new $$ toy. Sigh. Apple really messed up this time. My daughter got a Zune for Christmas and is having a great time downloading music for free with her Zune Pass. sigh.
We are experiencing the same problem wit the download to new software displaying the problem " there was a problem downloading the software.....you do not have permission to access the requested resource." how do we resolve or look at possible solutions?
From another thread someone says the same thing happened last year. I guess they learned nothing. Or maybe they do this on purpose so people get multiple charges and don't bother to remove them? You would think if they could take the server down they could disable the charge link so you can't buy it until the bandwidth usage dies down a little.
Wow, this blows. Apple Help Desk wouldn't even talk to me, just kept telling me that my purchase of the iPod Touch was over 90 days old. Can't get an response to any email. I guess I'll just have to wait and hope that this all gets sorted out.
Oh, free tip: that page that tells you the neat litle details about the 2.2 update ... well, even though it SAYS "you have already purchased this, you can download it again for free," it really means, "keep pushing this button so we can keep charging you."
ive had this same problem!!! its doin my head in! ive installed itunes on another pc and paid again for the update, but still 'u do not have permission from the requested resource!!!!'
i hope its just a problem with it being busy at xmas. can i get one of the poayments back?!
i got charged 2ce for this. I am leaving for the beach tommorrow and i wanted to get some apps for my ipod touch (1st gen). i just got it for christmas too.
Same here. Probably an Apple software bug. Taking it to the apple store tomorrow morning, so we'll see what they say...Of course, they'll probably be pretty clueless. Has anybody tried calling tech support? I'll probably try that too in the morning.
