Anyone else having slow HD downloads?

I have had slow downloads in the past week and a half on my Apple TV. However in the past few days it has really speed up to the point where I can download an HD rental like The Dark Knight, and start watching it in about 25 - 30 seconds.

This issue has been resolved for me as well, since movies are now downloading quickly on my Apple TV.

Is anyone using 802.11g wireless to the ATV able to now get HD movies going quickly after download start?

I was having the same slow download issues as everyone. I factory reset and updated my ATV to the latest version 2.3 and It looks like it solved the problem. I can transfer movies from my mac to my ATV in seconds.
To do the update, on your ATV, go to settings, general and update software. The download took a long time, so be patient.

definitely can relate; I rented a movie in standard format tonight, and it's telling me "ready to watch" in 3 hours. I bought a single episode of a 70's SNL last week, tried to watch it halfway through the download, and it kept freezing every 15 seconds or so. I just got this for Christmas; from the posts on this board, I take it this is NOT normal?

Yes, you are correct, it is not normal to take a long time to sync.
I personally have had no problems with my Apple TV in the last 2 days in terms of downloads or syncs going slow.

I'm already on 2.3, and right now appletv/itunes is unusable for movies. Everything is taking 8-9 hours to download. ***?

Same problem here in Dallas. But, I'm on Time Warner's RoadRunner. They claim (of course) that they are not doing anything to slow down iTunes traffic. But, as of the last couple of weeks, it's taking 8+ hours to download a movie...even standard def. What gives?

I am having the same problem. It has never taken this long to download anything before. I can't watch a movie right away, a 30 minute show takes an hour to download. It seems to have started right at Christmas. I called Apple Support and all she said was to reset to factory settings and don't update to 2.3 to see if that is what is causing the problem. No acknowledgement of any issues with the update or their servers but I am not satisfied with her answer.

Jan 4th taking many, many, hours to download. Have the latest software installed. TWC cable modem is blazing fast on all other machines in the house.

Don't believe it's the new software release causing the problem, as I upgraded to it in the hope it would fix the problem.

Same for me...also here in the Dallas area. Could it be something affecting our area? Any others in other areas still having this problem? For me it happens on the AppleTV as well as on my Macs when I try to download right into iTunes. TWC modem is very fast with all other content.

Same here with the shamefully slow downloads for both rental and purchased content on AppleTv. Strangely, if I go to my computer I can still download the from ITMS just as quickly as always, so I'm guessing it is a problem with the current ATV software (2.3), or the servers that the ATV points to at Apple.

I repeat, I have no problems when buying shows from my computer, but terrible speed when buying from the Apple TV. Basically not usable anymore for "spur of the moment" purchases.

Same here. Just bought the green mile, and it's taken 1.5 hours to download 9 %. Reset three times - now I'm downloading from iTunes in the hope to sync it over - just as slow. Internet speed is lightning fast everywhere else.

Annoying.
