How do we know for certain that this is a problem on Apple's end and not ISPs doing bandwidth throttling? On this and other threads, I note that a big majority of the posters have internet service through TWC. Just wondering.
The past few days my ATV has been taking 7-14 hours to download movies, when it used to take less than a minute to get it to start playing. I'm starting to regret not stopping by the video store yesterday...

I also have TWC in the Dallas area. My internet access is fast except for iTunes movie downloads, which have recently become incredibly slow.

We don't know anything for certain, but if it is throttling, it is happening across many vendors -- I have Cox. And, for most of us, only purchases from the ATV are throttled. iTunes works fine.
Everyone please call Apple and complain about this. I've been on the phone with them several times, and they appear to have no clue what this is (or just don't want to say anything about it).

Just bought the Apple TV a couple days ago. Just upgraded today to Time Warner Cable Internet service after experiencing super slow times downloading Kitchen Nightmares yesterday. Same thing happening again even with more bandwidth.
Same problem in New York with Time Warner, though I'm pretty sure it's not a TW issue. I was able to download a 2-and-a-half hour long movie through iTunes on my G5 in 50 minutes. Yet a 90-minutes long movie on my Apple TV took 11+ hours.
I called Apple care, they said they didn't know of any known issue, but that somebody "might" already be looking into it and that it "might" be resolved soon. Right.

I just download my first Apple TV movie. So, there my wife and I were on the couch ready for a romantic evening. We spent 30 minutes looking through all the choices. We choose a movie and opt to buy it. Then a message pops up "Your movie will be ready in 2 days." What???? Your movie will be ready in 2 days????!!!!???? I'm a Mac fanatic but this is ridiculous. We pay extra for the super-fast cable connection. The Apple TV is getting 5 bars of signal strength. Nobody else in the house is downloading anything and all the computers in the house have fast Internet connections. What gives?
Same in San Diego with RoadRunner and AppleTV. This couldn't be more disappointing. Fortunately, netflix is now available on my tivo, and I can get virtually the same content. Apple should acknowledge this issue in a public forum if they want to maintain any market share with AppleTV.
ATV downloads still very slow in Phoenix on Cox Cable, and still blazing fast otherwise. Just to reiterate to those who have recently purchased their ATV: This isn't at all normal... or at least it's the /new/ normal. Even HD movie downloads used to be ready to go within a minute or two which I think makes it even more disappointing for those of us who had become accustomed to the good performance. Had the same experience that you did, actually - got ready for a movie with the wife after our baby boy went to sleep early, spent a few minutes picking something, bought it and were prepared to watch expecting it to take a few minutes as it had before and ended up going to bed several hours later with it still needing another 2-4 hours before being ready to watch. Glad I wasn't trying to demonstrate it to friends who had come over for a movie as I have in the past! Definitely not going to buy again via ATV until this problem is definitively resolved.
This has to be resolved soon. How can Apple be so unprepared? I used to recommend Apple TV to everyone who would listen but after this download-time fiasco I cannot even enjoy watching Standard Def movies. Where can I complain to Apple?
Makes me want to smash it with a sledgehammer. Sooo Sloooow. But I still love my Apple TV for its potential. Kind of like a new puppy who cries all night, and poops everywhere but you know that if you just hang in there he will grow up to be a nice watchdog and friend. C'mon Apple! get it together
I am on the phone with Apple now.

Just got off the phone with Apple - this is an"unknown issue", unfortunately. I was told that they would call me when they find out more information.
For those on this thread having this problem -- PLEASE call Apple Tech Support and report this...

well I am still waiting but no one answers.
Why can't Apple at least announce they are working to correct this?

So they tell me to check my Connection. "it may be my ISP" Bollocks!! Everything else is super fast on TimeWarner Road Runner. Everything worked well before christmas!!
You need to tell them - if it's true, and in my case it is... That your ISP is NOT blocking or throttling iTunes on your computer. For me, it's using the maximum bandwidth. I also told them it wasn't my connection, because I could stream HD wirelessly from my Mac to my AppleTV without any issues. I could also connect instantly to certain HD Podcasts and to YouTube. The wireless connection is not the issue in my case, and I'm betting it's not the case for others on here...
Ok. Although we all know that Apple doesn't officially review these posts, they likely do unofficially, since they are a good barometer as to what goes on in their precious customers' homes. So could some of you undercover Apple-employees at least give me a hint that the company is looking into it? Sending email, telephone calls and posting here doesn't seem to get any answers.
Just say something damnit

Anyone else having slow HD downloads?
