Disable Pinch (zoom) Gesture

I'm just adding my "I am annoyed by this feature as well" vote. It would be ideal if specific gestures could be disabled either globally, or better yet, per specific applications.

I do agree this pinch open & close to zoom in and out is poorly implemented and that it's very, very annoying. Why just not provide an option in the TrackPad Preferences to turn the pinching gesture on and off? Please!

I agree... this is totally annoying. The Mac always thinks you're trying to zoom when you're actually trying to scroll.

If you're accidentally zooming in the Finder, you can disable this by going to Finder>Preferences>Advanced, and unchecking "Zoom using trackpad"

If you're accidentally zooming in other programs, there's a few options for you:

Jeff Hawkins of CubeYellow software has written 2 different InputManagers. One turns off 2-finger zooming in Safari and Firefox, and the other one turns off 2-finger zooming in Mail: http://cubeyellow.blogspot.com/2009/01/mac-book-pro-trackpad-zooming-and.html

You could also use the program MultiClutch to assign a different command to zooming as well:

But most importantly of all, be sure to voice your concerns with Apple on their feedback pages at http://www.apple.com/feedback so hopefully they will give us an option to turn this ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE pinch to zoom option off.

+1 requesting a way to turn off zooming in safari. I'll give it a couple of weeks, then I'm switching browsers.

I'm not a fan of this "feature" at all. Pages (Firefox) zooming all the time and perhaps the most hated is working in OpenOffice and my docs zooming in and out all the time. NeoOffice has implemented a function to turn off the zooming, but I don't want a switch just for that.

Apple PLEASE help.

ya. why isn't there an option in the control panel for track pad to turn this off. seems like a no brainer. Safari 4 and Photoshop start doing some weird stuff seemingly randomly. I'd never use an 'organic" zoom in either app and this zoom is way too sensitive.

Agreed. On my old Macbook Pro, back in the day when the button was not a part of the trackpad, I could rest my thumb on the button, scroll, and then click. Now, because I don't know where the button starts and where it ends on the trackpad, my resting thumb causes my two-finger scroll up and down to be treated like a zoom in and out.

It is literally destroying my web browsing experience (both Firefox and Safari). Apple and Mozilla should really put something in there to let us override the feature. I say the first group to do this will win my loyalty.

Thank you for this link to the PhotoShop plug-in. I was trying to work on deadline from the front seat of my truck the other day for the first time with my new machine and the zoom rotate function was driving me nuts. I wish Apple would add a on/off function to this function. I sort of like it but it needs an on/off. It drove my 85-year-old Mom to buy a bluetooth mouse because it was driving her off the deep end. Thanks again.

i just also got the new macbook when i scroll i always zoom its annoying as **** -_-

i also dont like how the mouse is just one big button its taking me so long to get used to this feature from using my old macbook 2008 model for a year and a half >.<
