screen flicker resolved?

Anyone get a definitive yet on the MBP screen flicker issue?
Travel back to the Apple store or wait for update?
Got a new 2.8Ghz and when it wakes up from sleep the their is a slight flicker you notice especially on a more solid desktop image.

After several minutes it seems to reduce but is still noticeable enough to be annoying.

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

I did see some other flickers on the screen but not sure were. It was very random. I took the MBP to Apple yesterday and showed the tech the video. I was leaning toward a software problem, but he told me it look like a hardware problem. The MBP was sent back to apple to be fixed. Not sure how there are going to fix it if they don't know what the problem is. Seems like a waste of time and should have keep the MBP until I got more of a definite answer on what the problem was.

I'm having same problem too.

Though I replaced both LCD and mainboard that concists problematic 9400m chipset, it still flickers.

Have I got another defect part?

I would like to know whether there's any person who are not having this problem with unibody macbook pro.

Condition :
-Low brightness (Level 2 - 4 from the darkest)
-Mode : 9400m

-> very continuous and slight flickering. Although it's slight, it is noticable and annoying.

Same as here, noticed it a few weeks ago, probably had it from day one...

Light flickering (pulsing), not very noticeable, but definetely there..
(I am quite "paranoid" about screen quality, I am a software developer and spent hours in front of different monitors)

Condition :
-Most of the time, seems to happen after a few mins of use
-Have not tested it from sleep, but probably happens there as well
-Low brightness (Level 2 - 4 from the darkest)
-Mode : 9600, it works ok at 9400...

Had the problem been on 9400, I would be really annoyed, since I use 9400 when on battery. When on battery I lower the brightness as well, so it would have been really bad. As it is now, I can live with it since I need the computer, but will definetely be taking this to Apple at some point and while still under warranty...

Annoying from the company that makes computers that "just work".

Is this the issue where the brightness seems to fade in and out? If so, disable the option to 'automatically adjust the brightness as ambient light changes' under Displays. I noticed this on my MacBook Pro on day 1 and after getting fed up with it while working in Logic looked at when it happened most.

During natural light, things were fine, but when the lights were on the display would go funny. However under halogen lights, things were better, not perfect but better though the display was at it's worst when in a room lit by energy saving bulbs.

I think this is a DIFFERENT issue than the one related to Quartz Extreme. The Quartz Extreme issue disappears (usually) once the computer is restarted -- at least for a while. It shows up as "flashy" areas of redisplay, like when viewing videos, or scrolling. The contents of the screen can get messed up, but will always redraw correctly if you do something like ZOOM the entire screen for a moment.
