Songs not playing on iTunes

This never happened before... I opened up iTunes and clicked on a song, and it would not play. The currently playing bar says the song title and the artist, but the diamond is not moving and the time is not running either.

I wonder if there's a solution to this?

its best to have itunes move the music, you can point the default itunes music folder to where you want the music, and then consolidate library, that will make a copy of all the music in itunes at that location, and also automatically have itunes look to that location from there on out. then just do as you wish with the other files.

No, my computer came with Vista, and I had the problem of songs not playing through 2 iTunes updates now.
The "original file" issue is solved now, so it recognizes that the files exist but still doesn't play the songs.

My iTunes started doing this yesterday. Songs just not playing! I followed advice here that seems to have worked: open Music folder in Windows, go to any song, right click, open with iTunes. iTunes opened, song came up and started playing. I clicked through a bunch of other music and everything is playing fine.

Weird.
