Quicktime 7.6 Problem in OS 10.4.11

Tiger 10.4.11
Just downloaded Quicktime 7.6. Finder now jumps to front window every 2 minutes or so, preempting any other program. How can I get back to 7.5.5 which worked fine?

Since my Mac mini is so new its still under warranty, I called Apple for help to uninstall QuickTime 7.6. According to them QuicKTime is now such an integral part of System X the only way is to an archive and reinstall of system 10.4 from the system disk that came with your machine. Grrrrrrr .... apparently the only thing is to wait for game software companies to coordinate with Apple and/or come up with an answer ........

Please find the working solution at

*QuickTime 7.6: Significant Issues After Updating*
........
*Finder constantly quitting and relaunching* A few users have reported an issue in which the Finder constantly relaunches after the QuickTime 7.6 update.
*If you are experiencing this issue and you have StuffIt installed, launch System Preferences and then open the Stuffit AVR pane, click the Stuffit AVR tab, then click the "stop" button.*

Aspyr got back to me... their latest:

Regarding "archive and install"

"Hello,

That is what Apple is officially telling people to do.
At this point, I don't think they are going to help us out on this one for some reason.
We are weighing possible solutions, but it is going to take a while.
We will post a solution here when we find one:
support.aspyr.com

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks for contacting Aspyr Media."

....I am really not happy with this. Considering what we pay for these machines, Apple can do a whole lot better on the support side of things.

Solution found. In my case it was VERY obscure and likely not related to what other folks are seeing with Stuffit AVR or out of date codecs.

I was running a preferences pane called Blueharvest (which modifies the creation of Mac OS/X hidden files on non Mac OS disks). I was running an old version. And as soon as I disabled it, the crashing stopped.
