HP Photosmart C5180 - scanner not running

I use a HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-one and the scanner is not running. Also, when try to scan thru Adobe Acrobat Pofessional, this software just collapses and does not capture anything from the printer.
I use OSX 10.5.6 on an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz.
Should I download the complete driver from HP website?

MacBookPro and iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 4 GB of RAM

I suggest not installing or de-installing any HP drivers when using Snow Leopard.
The HP printing and scanning features are included in SL and the previous drivers are not compatible with it.
Here's HP's official info on this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01846935&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en &product=1153481

Works well for me and my HP Photosmart C5180, though I am missing some scanning features, e.g. prompt for additional pages which was handy when scanning various pages to create one doc.
