Hmmm...if this was a content issue then ALL iPhone users would be having the same problem but sadly it seems only a select few of us seem to be enduring this. Two other Iphone 3G's in my house, using the same wireless connection and with the same firmware versions, are NOT having this problem. I've also tried with the wireless at work, Edge and 3G and still have the same problem with my iPhone.

I'm reluctact to go through all the hassle and time of restoring if there's no certainty it will fix the issue.

No response from Apple / YouTube?

I have the same problem on THREE different iTouchs. The same movies all play fine through safari on the device, but if you try going through the YouTube app, you get the message "This movie could not be played". Sounds like this is a problem with the App. I am speaking with support at Apple as I type this, and they do not have any knowledge of this problem. I have heard from others that a full restore does NOT fix this problem. Please let me know if you hear of a fix.

I've got the same thing others are describing - brand new iphone 16g - bought activated last Wed. YouTube app worked fine for the first day, and I've received "This movie could not be played" for all clips since then. I can use YouTube Mobile through Safari and it's fine. There may only be 28 of us posting this problem but I'm going out on a limb and guessing that there are more than 28 iphones with this issue.

Anyone out there get any answers from Apple? Except those who have done the restore - since I'm not ready to try that yet - rather try to reinstall the app. (???)

Hi All,

I had the same issue on an 8GB 3G that I purchased about 3 weeks ago.

I was able to play UTUBE movies, from the UTUBE icon until about 1 day ago.

After I did a backup/wipe/restore, all is well. I was always able to go to the UTUBE Website from Safari and play the videos.

I am slowly replacing apps from the app store to see if the is an issue with one of the free apps that I downloaded.

Regards,

Scott

Interesting. This happened to me last night. I've tried my phone, my wife's iPhone, on the in-house wifi and on the 3G network....nothing. Neither of us have downloaded any new apps in the last week.

Not that I have anything to offer in the way of solutions....just wanted to chime in as another person who started having this "random" issue yesterday (2/23).
