Iphone Exchange Calendar Synch Issues

Deeply grateful if someone can give me some assistance. We are nearly ready to switch to Blackberry as it seems to synch fine now.

We recently purchased an iphone 3g and want to synch it with our exchange server. We use the Exchange synch utility on the iphone, enter the information, and things seem to synch up...

but...we have missing events, meaning they show up in outlook but they dont show up on the iphone....i would say on any given day, we will be missing at least 1 out of 8.....

an interesting tidbit which must mean something, but what i cant quite figure out is that if i open the outlook client of the user who is missing appointments, click and open the missing appointment, and then just close it out, almost always it will show up on the iphone....

this is bizarre behavior...so, about 90% of the events/appts show up, 10 % dont, but if I open them on the outlook client, almost always the event will show up in a few minutes....any ideas?

Hi

I am facing the same problem have you find a solution on your side ?

We have :

_ exchange 2010 SP2

_ ios 5 devices

The user has 2 ios devices : on one device (iphone) the meeting is present not on the other one (ipad). There is no "logic" in the missing meetings.

The user has a delegation on his calendar and the delegate accept the last meeting which was missing on the iPad.

regards

Hi Adibach,

Any update on your end? The official response from Microsoft is that they have had numerous teams working on the issues and have confirmed it's an IOS problem, not exchange. Microsoft said they have been in contact with Apple and Apple has confirmed they do know of the problem and are working towards a solution. I am trying to open a ticket with Apple at well to attempt to get a work around for interm fix.

Best

Hi BluePrint,

Yes - some updates:

I can cofirm the commitment of Microsoft - they also have an open Case with Apple in US. We also have an open Case at Apple and they also confirmed it would be an iOS/Apple Issue. The Engineers of Apple are actively investigating the issue and working toward a resolution. Apple added the impact from our organization to this issue - I think as more iOS Devices are affected as more important will the case become important (until now I think it's a bit too low prioritiy) - so if other enterprises would open a case it would be helpful for all organizations.

As a temporary work around, when the issue occurs, the user can toggle calendar syncing off and then on. This should result in the calendar fully resyncing, and correctly showing all events. Depending on the amount of calendar data to sync, this may take a while to complete.

best regards from switzerland

hi

Is it anywhere on the Microsoft website or the Apple any information regarding this issue ? Just to let know my boss there is nothing I can do to help the end user except telling him to resync from times to times his calendar. I would be more than happy to tell Apple this is an issue for our users.

thanks for the update.

We have many users as well and most do work fine. There are a few exceptions and the problems seem to stem from users that have many appointments and that are constantly changing. These users also have a delegate that do most of the scheduling. The calendar meetings show up correctly in outlook and OWA but every few weeks a random meeting will go missing off an IOS device and still shows up correctly in outlook and OWA. So it isn't an entry mistake it is a random missing entry on the IOS devices.

Thank You

Hello,

I have finally found a solution to our problem here.

Win 2003

Exch 2003 SP2 Clustered

Installed and ran all of the MS patches and followed the Poof your calendar doc, still no go. Finally found and downloaded the Calcheck utility here:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/02/22/calcheck-the-outlook-cale ndar-checking-tool.aspx

Found all of the corrupted calendar items in the affected users mailboxes, and once removed, viola!!!!! full syncing between Iphone and Exchange Calendar. I had a user with one corrupted re-occuring appt. that was the culprit. Moved the appt out to a test .pst and syncing works 100%. Moved the appt. back into the calendar, syncing only 30% of the calendar.

Hope this helps

Hi at all,

thanks for all your tipps and tricks... but: everything as mentionned we already tested - synching right calendar towards exchange (so no private calendar as standard calendar); calcheck utility - didn't helped at our company.

We tested a lot and investigate also a lot of time in all these things... it seems really that it is an apple issue - we have some statements concerning this - but apple can't tell us when this issue will be fixed.

Microsoft also wrote a KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324

or in english: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324/en-us?fr=1

Maybe this will help for you?

Best regards,

Adi

hi adibach,

I remember we meet the same problem (some appointment seem to vanish from the calendar (not recurrent one) ? and I can't see our problem in this KB

I remember seeing previously your company has been addressed Microsoft for the calendar issue : is it the KB you have been furnished by Microsoft or is there an another one ?

Hi All,

I'm having a similar issue. It seemes that one of the VPs in my company havd changed the date to only one item in a series, which deleted the item from her iphone calendar, but did not send an updated item. This only happend to the specific date and the rest of the series is fine.

environment:

exchange 2010

outlook 2007

iphone 4s

Any input on how to avoid this would be great!
