Since 8.1 came out, pluggin in my IPod Touch results in iTunes freezing up and it unfreezes when it's unplugged. I left it plugged in anyway and after about 5 minutes iTunes unfroze and began "Verifying iPod." It takes way too long and no one is going to sit through this kind of delay every time you plug in your iPod. Is there any fix or workaround or explanation for this behaviour?
not a particularly great solution and may not work on systems/ipods that arent mine, but i have this problem and stop it continually verifying by:
1) transferring some media (at least a few songs)) to the ipod while it's "verifying"
2) when the transfer is complete and the display at the top reads "Syncing iPod, do not disconnect" click the (x) to the right to stop it syncing.
3) if your system is like mine, the verifying should have stopped.
if you update it to itunes 8.2 it somewhat fixes it -> When i first loaded it up it said verifying but it was gone in 5 seconds and itunes worked fine for a while
i tried the suggestion above. go to edit/preferences/devices and reset sync history and it worked. i just hope that it works for more than ten minutes.
