LCD display for graphic designer/photographer

My Mac Pro two 2.26 GHz Quad Core should arrive in a couple of days. I'm now in the process of choosing a 22"-24" LCD display monitor. As I am not attracted to the Apple 24" display's glossy surface, I've narrowed display choices down to these:

1) EIZO CG222W 22.2" Widescreen LCD
2) NEC MultiSync 2490WUXi 24.1" Widescreen LCD

Anyone using or know anything about either of these? I understand they are popular with graphic artists and photographers, but I am particularly interested in learning of any compatibility issues with the early 2009 Mac Pro/OS 10.5.6. NEC's support website notes possible compatibility issue between its 2490WUXi SpectraView II calibration software and OS 10.5.6.

If I chose the NEC model, could I use another calibration software/colorimeter with it instead? If not, then I would just go with the EIZO.

lighthouse j,

yeah, what a pain in the butt. i did send back to the two 26" NEC displays. i really didn't want to, though. i then ordered one 30" apple cinema display from amazon. it actually arrived today, but the box was heavily damaged. i opened it up and the foam padding was cracked too. i just called amazon to replace the display and asked that they pack the display box in another box.

so in the past month, i ordered a nehalem mac pro and it arrived defective. the latch that opens the side panel was broken. i'm still waiting for my replacement mac pro. then the two NEC displays not working. and now the heavily damaged cinema display box. i must be cursed...lol!

i did light up the 30" to see what it was like. and i can tell you that it is really beautiful. i definitely don't feel bad about spending $1800 on it. the 30" apple cinema display is really something special. i'll definitely be buying a second one this week.
