Hi Eric,
I have a 15-inch, 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive late 2008 unibody MacBook Pro notebook.
I run Mac OS X 10.5.6 and Boot Camp, with a Windows XP Professional, with SP2, partition.
I have experienced the same issue in IE, Firefox, and Safari on both operating systems.
I receive the following decoding error too.

I have just noticed this issue after having read this thread. I had experienced this before on an earlier MacBook Pro, and it had been resolved by having an email sent to the following contact.

I will have this information forwarded again.
Thank you.

I have written this quick note with an update.
I had found out that I had not installed the following update properly.
http://support.apple.com/downloads/Javafor_Mac_OS_X_10_5_Update_3
I have since installed it, I have also reinstalled Firefox, and everything works properly on the Mac OS X side, which is good enough for me.
I have reinstalled Firefox in Windows, to no avail.
I am not sure of what exactly has done the trick, but the aforementioned steps have resolved the issue for me, and I am satisfied.
Perhaps the long anticipated Boot Camp update would solve the issue for Windows.
I thank you all for your time and help. I really appreciate it. I hope that this solution works for Julie too.
All the best,
LukeD
