Is there a Mini Display Port Extension

My father just bought a Mac Pro with a 24 inch cinema display monitor and he is not happy with how short the cord that runs from the monitor to the computer. Does apple or someone else make an extension for this? A mini display port extension cable.

Mac Pro 8 Core 2.226ghz 16GB Ram Nvidia GT 120, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

I just want to add my two cents that this issue is ridiculous and apple store still does not sell and extension cord as of December 2009. I purchased the display to go with a mac mini in a dental office setting. The mini sits in a cabinet and the monitor is to be mounted on a vesa mount (another grip post to come). This cord is ridiculously short. So after reading this thread I am going to shell out another 50 bucks to get a 13 foot mini display and USB extension cord from cpustuff. Somebody dropped the ball on this one. Regardless if the display was originally designed for the laptop line, once they started marketing it to macpro and mac mini customers, they should have either significantly lengthened the supplied cord or offer an extension as an accessory. I know this post don't move the ball in any way, but it makes me feel better. 🙂 sorta.

I just purchased a MacPro and got 4 displays, can only use two due to the cable length problem. After spending $12,000 for the best of the best, I find this inability to use my hardware due to poor manufacturing OUTRAGEOUS! Come on Apple, do not advertise "up to 8 displays" for the MacPro if you cannot even handle 2. My older cinema displays with DVI connectors have a much, much longer cable, so my new display sit and gather dust, while I have to fall back to my older ones. This is WRONG!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to check back at this forum to let everyone know we've developed quite a few solutions to these problems. Here is a cable that extends just the Mini Displayport connection: <http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/Mini-Displayport-Extension-Cable-%2 8Mini-Displayport-Female-to-Mini-Displayport-Male-Extension-Cable%29.html>

We also have a cable that extends both the USB and the Mini DP connection: <http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/Mini-DisplayPort-and-USB-Combinatio n-Extension-Cable.html>

If you are located internationally we have very affordable Fedex International Priority shipping that will get to you in 2-3 days.
