10.5.7 - Bluetooth keyboard and mouse not working anymore

Updated to 10.5.7 and since then after some minutes my Appley wireless keyboard and the mighty mouse do no work anymore.

Note that the connection is not lost. When I then turn bluetooth off, the system tells me that the connection got lost and when I turn it on again it works as before. But after some minutes it won't works.

This happens on a new MBP.

How can I solve this problem?

MBP, Dual Xeon, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

In hopes of fixing this problem I also have periodic mouse hesitations and keyboard problems using my wireless units.

I notice they mostly misbehave when I am on the internet and a page is loading or a video is playing. It appears to be worse at these time and is most repeatable at these times.

Hope this help get this fixed quickly, because my Mac is now behaving like it is a windoze machine.

Sincerely,
Franklin Miller, M.S.

Do your mouse disconnects as soon as you stop moving it or as soon as you lift the mouse? For me it's the latter. If the mouse stays in contact with the table, it doesn't disconnects, but when I lift it a few millimeters, it disconnects at once.

I guess the update (10.5.8) didn't fix it for you either? I wonder if we must wait for Snow Leopard...

Well, I installed 10.5.8 yesterday morning and it seems to be an improvement, but not perfect. Today I got the bluetooth bug where my mighty mouse will move, but mouse clicks won't register (the wireless keyboard continues to work). Usually, clicking something with the laptop trackpad will then allow my mighty mouse buttons to start registering clicks, but this time it didn't work. When the trackpad thing doesn't work I restart my bluetooth, but this time, after restarting bluetooth, my might mouse and keyboard stopped working completely. I tried everything (kill -1 blued, etc...) but it wouldn't fix the issue. I had to reboot then everything worked fine.

I'm starting a blog to follow this issue:
http://funkinetics.org/klink/osx-bluetooth-problems/

It seems Apple's dancing around some deeper issue with their bluetooth (probably a chip issue) and playing the Dutch boy with his finger in the dike. If only they had a open bug tracking system we could see what's going on instead of this wall of silence.

Not my idea of fun for a $1500 laptop with a primary claim to fame 'it just works'... maybe it should be like 'it just works, except occasionally with our own peripherals.'
