Itunes Won't Burn Audio CD - Slow!

I have wasted nearly 10 CD-R's trying to get iTunes to burn an audio CD. I've burned cd's on this machine before with now problem. I think the issue started after I downloaded the 8.1 updates.

I can create a playlist and press "burn cd." It seems the CD is burning fine through the first track but after that it goes INSANELY SLOW and just stops in the middle of the 2nd track. I know it's not my driver, as I've been able to burn CD's from Windows Media Player...the problem with that is that MWP doesn't support the mp4 format. This is such a pain in the butt!

I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes about 5 times with no solution. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am having the same problem. It tells me each time attempt to burn disk failed error 4220. How do we find out what error 4220 means? I've never done this kind of thing before and I have no idea how to resolve my problem. I am using memorex cd-r cds.

I'm having the same problems w/my new PC running Vista 64bit and w/the latest itunes 9.0.2.25.

Trying the regedit didn't even work.

I've given up but does anyone know another CD burning software that will work? My windows media player looks like it will burn fine. I will not be purchasing any more songs from itunes til this is fixed. Amazon music hopefully will get more songs soon...

I was thrilled yesterday morning to see the 9.0.2 update in my Software Update. Unfortunately, it does not fix this issue. I am pretty dissapointed that iTunes will no longer burn audio CDs. There is more to music than just iPods, Apple!

I'm on Windows 7 with iTunes 9.0.0.70 and 20 useless CDRs.

Going to update to latest version but don't think this is going to help!

Add me to the list as well, this is getting ridiculous, HELLO APPLE, are you going to fix this sometime during the next 10yrs!! I want to be able to listen to my songs in my car!!
It burns 2 or 3 songs and then stops and locks up my disc drive, arrrghhh!!!!

I thought I was having the same problem. I would start the burn process, but the hard drive would just spin and iTunes was unresponsive. I just let it go on and after what seemed like forever, it started burning the songs. So it ultimately worked out, but it was MUCH SLOWER than it was before. Definitely a problem.

i'm having this problem (itunes won't burn audio-cd's) since yesterday. before everything worked fine.

i'm using mac os x 10.6.2 and itunes 9.0.2 - has anyone a solution? need to burn cd's for my car-hifi!!!

I am another itunes user for whom this problem has become a really annoying issue and like someone else who posted earlier - I will not be buying anymore anything from itunes until it is resolved. Advice from Apple to uninstall and reinstall is not helpful - the problem still remains....

Exactly the same problem. I am running windows 7 64 and i tunes will just freeze when I go to burn disc. I'm nor to happy about cjanging reg. details so will have to wait for apple tec. NOT VERY HAPPY

I have this on again off again problem for about 11 months. Updates do not address the problem and this is becoming quite frustrating. The last attempt resulted in receiving a message stating I had used up my alloted 7 burns even though the CD never got completed.This really need to be cleared up by Apple.I won't purchase any more music from iStore until this issue is resolved. "Trust me".

Same bad issue here !
Tried XP, Vista and Win7 on two different machines. It is not possible to burn multiple CD's (like longer Audiobooks). The first normally works fine, but the second one has exactely the desctibed issues - locked CD-drive and so on.
This is even completely independent if using a 'physical' CD-Burner or a virtual one. Exactely the same issue.
Shame on Apple for this !

I use Toast by Roxio. Burns my CD's without a problem. Super slick and easy to work with. I'm a happy camper. I gave up on iTunes a good while back:

I reverted back to using 8.2 with windows 7 and it works fine.

I am having this problemm also with burnig cds. I keep gettin a message that says there was an unknown error(4450)half way through the burn process. I have 6 cds that I can't use because the burn didn't coplete. Apple, please explain what is goin on. I have itunes 9.0.2
