Itunes Won't Burn Audio CD - Slow!

I have wasted nearly 10 CD-R's trying to get iTunes to burn an audio CD. I've burned cd's on this machine before with now problem. I think the issue started after I downloaded the 8.1 updates.

I can create a playlist and press "burn cd." It seems the CD is burning fine through the first track but after that it goes INSANELY SLOW and just stops in the middle of the 2nd track. I know it's not my driver, as I've been able to burn CD's from Windows Media Player...the problem with that is that MWP doesn't support the mp4 format. This is such a pain in the butt!

I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes about 5 times with no solution. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Has anybody come up with a solution for this yet?? Any word from Apple? Like others on this post, I've got 2 PC's running Vista that won't burn CD's in Itunes since 8.1 release. There's got to be a fix!?! Has anyone had any luck?

UGH...this is so frustrating. I tried looking for an answer to this cd burning problem in the itunes support n nothing!!! then i tried calling the customer support line for help....but guess what?!?!? they don't give help if u r using itunes with windows!!!! LAME!!! I need help. I use to be able to burn cd's from itunes, but now it starts to then stops and gives me an error code! Any1???? HELP!!!!!

I have tried all day trying to solve the problem. On my laptop it starts to burn a CD but stops on first song, get the message error4450 or burning cancelled. On my main PC all i get is the message can not find recording device and try reinstalling itunes, tried all this and sod all works, itunes lets you buy the music but wont let you burn of windows

UPDATE: I downloaded and installed 9.1.0 today (100mb+ download to update software already installed? that's getting old Apple!) After installing, I WAS able to burn CD's in itunes for the first time in a long time. Tried it on 2 machines that were having trouble and both worked. I'm not saying they have fixed the issues but give it a try if no other fixes have worked for you.

I noticed a huge improvement with burning CDs with 9.1.0 - not only have the CDs burned sucessfully but they were also faster and iTunes was not comsuming 100% CPU for the duration of the burn. Let's hope it has worked for everyone that was having this problem

My prob is with vertion 9.1 it starts to go through songs thenit says an unknown error accured .(-5) I unstalled and reinstalled tried a different format
any advice.

I just upgraded to iTunes 9 which I was forced to do to download a free American Idol track. I've always HATED iTunes but never this much. Now for some reason known only to God, I can't burn a CD. After just buying 2 new tracks, I can't burn them to a CD!!

My solution is to fire Apple and find another source for online Music, that doesn't choose to enrage their customers on a daily basis.

Cheers for posting that and letting us know the results of your testing, very helpful. I'm having the same problem as you talked about. Just wondering if you'd used the version 7.43 with windows 7 64bit, and if so did it function ok?
