As soon as the FirstClass app gets approved, I am ready to buy a bunch of iPod touches. But, right now with 30 fart apps avalable and not FirstClass, I have a tough time wanting to buy these. I picked up an iPod touch just for the FirstClass app, that was March 1. Now we continue to wait. Do we have to wait until another 30 fart apps are approved before a useful piece of software is approved?

Why isn't it out on the appstore?

Well that is the question we are all asking... Only Apple knows. And in spite of repeated requests for information, there has only been two (perhaps automated) form messages saying it has been delayed (by Apple's review process). That was in April. It was submitted to the AppStore for release March 30th. (I fear that eventually I may have to add what year that was.)

For what it's worth...hopefully some, Apple needs to have better channels of communication with their developers. I am not a developer, but since having to wait for this iPhone App to be approved, I have come across many articles about issues developers have with Apple. With new systems coming out that are claiming to be "iPhone killers" you would think that Apple would be doing everything it can to strengthen its ties with its development community. The release of a strong business app such as FirstClass would go a very long way to doing this.

My two cents...

I'm the email administrator for a Fortune 1000 company. 10's of thousands of employees. My reccomendation is still Blackberry for folks that want to access their FirstClass email, and will continue to be until Apple can pull it out and figure out, Business apps must be given top priorty over all other apps. I've most likely "sold" 100 Blackberrys as this FirstClass app has been waiting for approval.

It's absolutely ludicrous that Apple is taking this long to release the app. We have over 700 users (a relatively small FC user-base) and most of which are students w/ iPods and iPhones. It would be a tremendous benefit to them as students if they were able to use these devices with FirstClass as organizational tools. Com'on Apple... what's the problem? Release the app!

I am the IT Director for a school with a one-to-one laptop program, we purchase about 150 to 200 laptops every year. We also run our email and intranet system on FirstClass, and with the promise of good access to FirstClass, I was able to convince much of my senior admin team to graduate from regular cell phones to iPhone 3G handsets over the past year.

I can understand that there might be any number of reasons for the approval of the FC client for iPhone to be rejected or delayed - but why is there absolutely no response from Apple at all? Just come out and reject it so we can all move on, approve it, or ask for changes - something, ANYTHING. Months and months of silence is just unprofessional.

Our organization is just dying to buy iPhones and iTouches so we can use them with FirstClass, our collaboration suite of choice. But without the FirstClass Mobile client for iPhone we won't be buying a single one.

The funny thing is we have been running our FirstClass mail server on the Mac since 1995. We love FirstClass and we love Macs. Apple and their indifference to third party developers, not so much.

Please release the FirstClass app for the iPhone!

FirstClass is a great mail system, especially for schools. We use it at a grad school at a major research university. Most of the grad students use smart phones to check their mail. Some even send their mail out to Gmail so they can get it on their iPhones. I understand the FirstClass client for iPhone is working its way through the app approval process. It seems the games and rude noise apps are getting through quickly, but the real productivity apps are being held up. Let's hope the app approvers find it before school starts in the Fall or I'll have to get a "smartphone whose name I'm contractually obligated not to mention" -(John Hodgman).

My organization runs a FC server in an all Mac environment with numerous iPhone users who are all extremely disappointed with the delay, after getting export approval for the encryption methods used OpenText seems to have done all they can to get the app ready for delivery.

This delay is reflecting very poorly on Apple and hindering progress and productivity for the estimated 9,000,000 FC users around the world, I know this app would be a big selling point for the iPhone to many users in my organization and I am sure the same is true elsewhere.

Apple, why are you keeping this from us ?

Lets take some of the resources from the teams that approve 'x-ray machine' and 'drink-a-pint' apps and put more focus on useful communication, collaboration and business tools. With Microsoft making one bad decision after another, now is the time for you to pay a little more attention to the business and education markets.

Release the FC App !!!
