Error 8001?

I've had itunes on my computer for years, keep the software updated, and even bought some music last night. Now when I try to purchase music, it asks for my password, then tells me that it is unable to completely my itunes store request because an error occurred (8001).

Help??

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It has to be on Apple's end. I've tried rebooting iTunes several times and nothing. I've logged out and cannot log back in. This is kinda dumb and I'm going to quit. Hopefully by morning, the problem will be fixed. I need to update my iPod and all that jazz. I'm sure it will be back up and running in due time...at least I hope so. Let's all keep our fingers crossed. Let me know if you guys find anything out. Thanks.

I've got this problem as well. I don't think it's directly related to 8.2 as I've had it since it was released and didn't have the problem (already synced 2 or 3 times since). Just tried to download a few free apps (about 10 min. ago) and got the error. Tried on phone with same results. Signed out and now can't sign in. It ***** because I think I'm going to miss out on some 'free for a limited time' apps as a result.

Tried to sync in hopes that it would fix the problem, and now it gets stuck on the backing up step, have to stop the backup and then it continues normally.

Just upgraded from 8.1 to 8.2 today and ran into this same problem. I unauthorized my account- BIG MISTAKE DON'T DO IT. My PC was just fine with 8.1 and now 8.2 is causing a headache! I'm completely convinced now that this is Apple's fault and, since I've lost the ability to use some of my iPod PURCHASED content, I smell a class action suit waiting to happen. Anyone got a fix yet?
