I have a pretty new 17" Mac Book Pro with a wireless Mighty Mouse. The mouse is consistently losing the connection with the computer and I have to go to the Bluetooth menu to re-establish the connection. Is this a known issue or does this computer or Mighty Mouse have a defect?
Hello, 6/18 6:11 AM using Firefox, after downloading / updating Wireless firmware update, on techcrunch.com website checking out info on possible new iPod Touch model for 2009. (Previous 2 days, no issues with mouse or keyboard using Safari(updated) and Firefox (also updated).
Had to go to System Preferences, click on bluetooth to get connectivity back.
So the issue remains - for me anyway. Also took laptop into the Genius Bar. They had no clue as to what was going on - suggested I leave it with them for 3-5 days so they could run diagnostics. (Couldn't, so now I'm keeping a log of what happens, when, etc. then I'll bring it in.)
I am having the same issue. I am losing my mouse at random intervals throughout the day. The bluetooth preferences still says that the mouse is connected, although nothing will allow me to use the mouse except using the trackpad to turn off bluetooth and turn it on again. I am on a BRAND NEW Macbook Pro, so I know it is not the computer (this one was exchanged and the last one had the same problem). This is an issue with the 10.5.7 update. I downloaded the Bluetooth update this morning and I am still having the problem, so this did not fix the issue.
Same here! I downloaded and installed the bluetooth f/w 2.0 update and I had (2 min ago) a loss of connection with my mighty mouse: to recover it, same technics = open the bluetooth preferences window thanks to trackpad. For me too, the f/w update is not effective (at least at 100% as I hoped...)
Anyone else with the same unsuccessful occurrence?
Cheers
I also still have the dropped BT problem, even after the new firmware update. I had no problems with BT at all until the 10.5.7 system update. What happens for me is that the computer seems to "lose" the mouse and keyboard, usually together. They still appear in bold in the BT drop down menu of connected BT devices. No disconnect warning appears.
If I turn BT off and back on in the Bluetooth drop-down menu, I get immediate function back. I also can confirm if I open the BT preferences pane and click the on/off box, it clears up the problem.
Bummer. I was hoping for a solution to the dropping bluetooth connection as well. I didn't have any trouble with the update but just lost my mighty mouse connection again. Irritating having to open up macbook, use the mouse pad to disconnect bluetooth, then reconnect to have everyting working again.
I have also been having this problem since the 10.5.7 update. I lose both the BT keyboard and the BT Mighty Mouse several times a day. I always lose both. They will instantly come back by just opening the BT preferences panel with the trackpad. I have applied the BT updates, reloaded 10.5.7 combo update, zapped the PRAM all with no effect.
The BT update didn't help for me as well. Wireless MM and keyboard both disconnect several times a day.
Calling apple support every day to complain, and y'all should do the same so that they notice that the recent update didn't solve anything and take action.
I have just installed the Bluetooth update 2.0 this morning and same problem with the Mighty Mouse losing connection. Very annoying. It is my 3rd Mighty Mouse in one month and still the same problem.
Add me to the list of people with wireless MM and Leopard 10.5.7 issues. The recent Bluetooth update has not solved my problems of a frozen mouse every few hours.
Same problem here: I lose my MM bluetooth connection up to 5x a day! It is very annoying. It seems to be isolated to the MM, and not a bluetooth issue in general. My keyboard is also bluetooth, and it never lose its connection. So, I think it's the might mouse! All my equipment are brand new (MacBook Pro 17", blue tooth MM, and bluetooth keyboard), and I'm only having problems with the might mouse. I am so frustrated with the problem that I've switched out the might mouse and I am using a bluetooth logictech mouse, and that seems to be fine. So, I think the problem is only with the mighty mouse and maybe the latest OS (Mac OS 10.5.7).
Please add me to the list. This only started happening after I upgraded to 10.5.7. I have installed the Bluetooth update but still my mightymouse drops out. Same situation - it shows up as connected in the bluetooth control panel. It often reconnects if I select it in the bluetooth control panel and hit return, but that could be coincidence.
Ditto here. I was going to go exchange my MM but I see that my problem is not an isolated issue.
Is there someway to start "class action" complaint here? We should be refunded our money or given some kind promise as to a resolution.
This is by far the most money I have spent on Mouse and it is under-performing any other mouse I've had.
I have the same problem. I originally though that is my battery. But after I changed the battery several times, I believe it is the OS X problem. ****!
