I have a pretty new 17" Mac Book Pro with a wireless Mighty Mouse. The mouse is consistently losing the connection with the computer and I have to go to the Bluetooth menu to re-establish the connection. Is this a known issue or does this computer or Mighty Mouse have a defect?
I'm having a similar issue since the latest leopard upgrade. I've found that there are two (rougly equivalent) ways to get it going again....
Long way: Turn off bluetooth, turn back on again.
Short way: In terminal: sudo killall -HUP blued
The advantage of the short way is that you can do it purely from the keyboard, so I don't have to open up my usually closed macbook and use the trackpad.
It works temporally... after few hours , sometimes minutes, the problem comes back again. I owned this mouse for a year with no problems, since the last week it has been losing bluetooth connection constantly.
Please post your issue as a new thread. By
"threadjacking" you limit responses and also confuse the original question. Although your problem may seem the same, it is probably different.
The mouse seems to delete itself and when I go to preferences-mouse- it is not listed and I have to add it again. I have it set to be discoverable but, as I have said, I must get it to reconnect several times a day and I am getting tired of that!
I am having similar problems since updating to 10.5.7.
My MM loses connection, it never shows the name or battery meter anymore, and sometimes has to be restarted to regain connection.
I took my MM to a friend's house who is running 10.5.7 on a pre-Intel iMac and everything works exactly as it should.
I am having similar problems since updating to 10.5.7
I am using a MacBook Pro with 2 different MM (one @home and one @office) and with both MM i am having those problems. sometimes i loose connection every hour and sometimes only twice a day... 😉
Add me to those who started having this problem after the 10.5.7 upgrade. I lose both the mouse and the keyboard about once or twice a day and the only way I can get it back is to open the MacBook and turn off Bluetooth and then turn it back on again.
I'm sure that true to Apple form, we'll hear no official replies here for something this insignificant, but one day there will be an update that mysteriously fixes this and we'll all forget about it. Happens all the time.
Keeps happening to me too, but several times a day. Moving the tapping the mouse looses the connection very easily. Some times I loose the keyboard also. Seems that heavy use of the USB port also kills the bluetooth response. I have had to resort to a wireless USB mouse.
As I said here earlier would eventually happen. Nothing official here in the forum but today Apple released a Bluetooth update and this problem is resolved. I'm betting if anyone still having this problem will do the update it will fix the problem. I guess we should be happy they fixed it and not worry about why they don't reply in their forums.
I am not an apologist for anyone - particularly corporations. However, these forums are, by definition, user-to-user. Apple moderates the forums and does get feedback from the posts. Apple does not, however, respond directly. If you have feedback for Apple, use the OS X feedback facility in another part of this web site.
Alas, the download appears only for those with certain hardware configurations. I have had connection problems with my wireless Mighty Mouse ever since installing 10.5.7 and expected this would resolve the problem, but the download doesn't appear on Software Update. Hopefully 10.5.8 or Snow Leopard will resolve this.
